Rogier’s questline and steps into Elden Ring

The Wizard Roger is an affected in Elden Ring dedicated to searching for pieces of information about an important event in the past. By helping him you will not only get nice rewards, but you will also learn more about key figures who played an important role before you arrived at the Lands Between.

As a prerequisite to embarking on this quest, that you probably haven’t talked to Ranni the Witch before completing the first steps.

In this Elden Ring guide we show you every step of Rogier’s quest.

Here you will find a list of all the steps you need to complete to complete Rogier’s quest. In addition to showing you the inner parts of Stormveil Castle’s dungeon, progression of this quest will take you to Liurna of the Lakes.

Where should you start Rogier’s quest in Elden Ring?

Inside Stormveil Castle, from the Rampart Tower Site of MercyGo north and down the stairs to access the roof of the church. Be careful of the Warhawks in your path. You can enter through one of the windows or via a ladder on the southeast side you reach the church. If you choose the latter, you will have to defeat the patrolling units. Otherwise they can follow you into the church and attack Rogier.

Once you’re in the church, talk to Wizard Rogier at the central table, as shown above.

Defeat Godrick the Grafted

Godrick the Grafted holds a sword during the Elden Ring Rogier mission.

Your next goal is to fight and defeat the final boss in Stormveil Castle. Godrick the Grafted. This is the second major boss you’ll interact with, and the encounter is considerably harder than Margit, the Fell Omen. Talk to Rogier in Roundtable Hold

Now that Godrick has been defeated, it’s time to go to Roundtable Hold. Teleport there if Melina has already taken you there, or visit a site of grace where she may appear and invite you. You can find Rogier sitting on the balcony east of the central room. Talk to him and choose the “I defeated Godrick” dialogue option when it becomes available. Rogier rewards you with the Rogiers Rapier +8 and ends the call.

Explore beneath Stormveil Castle

To advance Rogier’s quest line, you must visit an underground section of Stormveil Castle, where you can learn what happened to Rogier.

Teleport to the Liftside Chamber Site of GraceTake the elevator on the left and in the next area use the ledge to access a window on the right. From there, turn right and follow the only available path.

Eventually you’ll come to an outside area with a giant hole in the ground – you’ll be above the pots. Go left and take the door next to two corpses with a Smithing Stone (1) and a Golden Rune (2). In the next room, go down and take note of the enemies scattered all around you. Leave the room, go left and walk on a platform to a balcony.

Enter the door on the balcony to access an interior part of the castle. Make sure you go left first and open a shortcut to the Liftside Chamber Site of Grace. Now you can return and turn right. Use the beams to reach the lower levels until you reach the ground.

Be careful of the rats and look for one Lesser swearing tree spirit. Defeat it, move on and interact with the bloodstain next to the big face.

Return to Rogier and talk to Fia

Go back to talk to Rogier and ask him over the corpse under Stormveil. Then, still in Roundtable Hold, go talk to Fia in the room next to the blacksmith. Let her hold you and interact with her until you reach the dialogue options “Talk in secret”, “Do you know…?” and ‘About the black knife print’.

Defeat the Black Knife assassin

To complete this step you will need to go to the Catacombs with black blades on the northeast side of Liurna of the Lakes. There is a hidden boss in this dungeon. To find him, head west from the bonfire, left from the door, and right and the end of the hallway.

You will enter a room with three giant guillotines. Use the one in the middle to lift you to a door. Go ahead and turn right. You’ll find the boss room at the end of this path behind an imaginary wall.

That’s what you stand for Black knife killer, a fast and deadly enemy. If you defeat them you will be rewarded with the The assassin’s Cerulean dagger and the Black knife print.

Return to Rogier

Once you have the Black Knifeprint, talk to Rogier and give him the Black Knife Print. After you exhaust the dialogue, reload the game and talk to him again. This time he will tell you to find Ranni. Ask Rogier about it Where is Ranni? that he would tell you that she should hide in a mansion north of the Academy of Raya Lucaria.

Go to Caria Manor and talk to Ranni

This step takes you to Caria Manor. At the entrance, follow the path to the left and continue heading northwest, following the road to reach the Lower Level Country Home of Grace. From there, head southeast, climb the stairs to the northeast and take the elevator to the Top level country home in Grace. Leave the room and go northeast until you find the stairs.

Go through some small soldiers and a giant to fight Royal Knight Loretta. After you defeat her, head north and reach the Three sisters towers. You can find Ranni at the tower in the southwestern part of the map. Talk to her at the top of the tower until she tells you to leave.

Return to Rogier at Roundtable Hold

Teleport back to the Roundtable Hold and talk to Rogier. After I told him that Ranni cast off her curse, he proposes that you become her vassal. Run the dialog to continue to the next step. You can take the opportunity to talk to him about D, which will give you an item related to D’s quest line.

Return to Ranni in Caria Manor

By talking to Ranni again, you can accept becoming her vassal. Just know that doing this will begin Ranni’s questline. When the conversation ends, talk to the ghosts of the other three NPCs in the tower. Before you go, talk to Ranni again and she will tell you that she is going into a long sleep.

Return to Rogier one last time

In the final part of the quest, you’ll need to visit Rogier one last time, and he should have some new dialogue explaining how concerned he is about his condition. (If his dialogue hasn’t changed, reload the game and try talking to him again.)

After this conversation, rest at the place of grace and when you talk to him again, Rogier will not answer you. Repeat the process of resting at the place of grace and talking to him a few times. Ultimately, Rogier dies and leaves his behind Spellblade set and its bell bearing. As Rogier’s last act before he dies, he writes a letter to you in which he talks about D’s brother.
