Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal noticed a US Open fan famous for taking his shirt off at Flushing Meadows just before driving the Laver Cup crowd to madness during the Swiss’ last game.

Federer teamed up with his biggest rival in what was his last game of his professional tennis career, which lasted 24 years.

Nadal and the 20-time Grand Slam champion failed to triumph over world pairing Jack Sock and Frances Tiafoe, who lost 4-6, 7-6, 11-9.

On a lighter note, the Swiss ace sat next to Nadal during a break in the first set, with Team Europe leading 4-3 in the first set.

“Hey, do you know this man? This guy is from the US Open,” Federer told Nadal with a smile.

Shortly after the camera turned to him, the man whipped the London O2 Arena crowd into a frenzy

Indeed, Nadal recognized him by referring to him as the man who always ‘takes the shirts’ [off].’

Initially in a gold-buttoned shirt, the fan stripped off his first number, flipped it over his head before tossing it into the crowd.

From there he continued. Under the gold shirt was initially a black t-shirt with the Rodger Federer ‘RF’ branding, followed by a navy blue Nadal t-shirt.

The fan would have flown in from the US especially for Federer’s last game ever

From then on it was almost all Federer, another 10 shirts were peeled off, leaving a white RF shirt.

According to the host commentator, the gentleman flew in from the United States especially for the occasion.

Federer and Nadal both seemed to enjoy the spectacle, along with an avid crowd who cheered, clapped and danced the entire time.

The tennis greats walked back onto the court, with smiles on their faces.

While Federer certainly appreciated what he saw, he did suggest that the fan should step it up a notch.

“He has to go naked at the end. He has to,” he said.

Federer may have lost his last game and the man didn’t go far either. It seems that even the big ones don’t always get what they want.
