Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has posted an update on his condition after suffering a worrying injury during his side’s 1-0 win over Liverpool on Wednesday evening.
Just five minutes into the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final, Bentancur headed from a Tottenham corner at the near post but appeared to fall awkwardly and was then left motionless on the pitch.
There was immediate concern for the 27-year-old as his teammates frantically gestured for medics to enter the field to provide treatment.
The medical response was swift and the fans in the stadium watched intently as Bentancur was treated for nine minutes before being carried off to applause from both sets of supporters.
Totttenham later confirmed that the Uruguayan had been rushed to hospital for further scans, and Bentancur took to social media early on Thursday morning to reassure fans concerned about his well-being.
A smiling Bentancur posted a photo of himself with his long-term partner Melany La Banca, alongside the message: ‘All good, guys! Thanks for the messages!!! Congratulations on the win guys!!!’

Bentancur’s positive update will come as a relief to fans after he required long-term treatment.
It was his first game back after serving a one-match ban in Tottenham’s weekend defeat to Newcastle, having secured five bookings this season.
Before that, he was handed a seven-match ban for using an alleged racial slur against Tottenham captain Son Heung-min during a TV interview in his home country of Uruguay.
It remains unclear when he will return from his latest setback, but seeing him sitting up in bed and smiling will be a welcome sight for supporters.
Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah also required medics’ attention after feeling unwell in the first half of Wednesday’s match, leading to 11 minutes of stoppage time.
The second half then came alive in the final 15 minutes as Spurs managed to gain a slim lead to head to Anfield for next month’s second leg.
Tottenham were first dismissed for a tight offside move after Dominic Solanke thought he had given the hosts the lead.

But Bentancur has now posted a positive update on his condition after Lucas Bergvall scored a late winner for Tottenham on Wednesday night
Spurs finally broke through in the 86th minute when Lucas Bergvall scored after fine work from Solanke.
Liverpool were left furious after feeling Bergvall should have been sent off moments earlier for a foul on Kostas Tsimikas while already booked.
However, Bergvall remained on the pitch and provided the decisive moment in the match, much to the delight of Tottenham and Bentancur.
