Rod Stewart’s staying up into the early hours to watch his beloved Celtic beat the Rangers on a trip to New Zealand – after getting a tattoo tribute to the football club on his arm

He showed his devotion to his beloved Celtic by recently inking the football club’s badge on his arm during a trip to the New Zealand tattoo artist.

And days later, Sir Rod Stewart again showed his dedication to the club on Sunday by staying up late to watch them beat rivals Rangers.

His wife Penny Lancaster, 52, shared a photo of her husband standing alone in a bar watching the late night football game.

Penny tagged Auckland as their venue, writing, “Rod watches his beloved Celtic beat the Rangers in an empty bar, early hours.”

Rod wore a sports top and sweatpants with trainers, while sporting his signature blonde bush of hair in a spiky style.

Before the match, Rod marked the end of the Australasian leg of his world tour in style on Monday by getting the tattoo done.

The Do Ya Think I’m Sexy hitmaker visited a local body art parlor and had an image of his favorite football team tattooed on his shoulder.

The Englishman shared a photo of him sitting in the chair as the artist inked a Glasgow Celtics Scottish FC team logo onto him.

‘Getting a Glasgow Celtic tattoo done in Auckland to celebrate my beloved team. You’re in My Heart,” he wrote alongside the photo.

He also shared a photo of him singing in his team’s green and white colors at Auckland’s Spark Arena to mark their victory in a Scottish Premiership match.

It wasn’t long before many of Rod’s celebrity friends went wild over his new body art.

Safe travel mate. Go Celtics,” gushed Rod’s tour partner Jon Stevens and others quickly agreed.

Stewart has been doing a Greatest Hits tour of Australia and New Zealand for the past month, capping it off with a sold-out show in Auckland on Sunday.

Rod certainly enjoyed himself in between concerts on his farewell tour.

The star was recently spotted leaving behind the trappings of fame as he enjoyed a ferry ride to Manly, a beachside suburb in northern Sydney.

While in New South Wales he also went to the Woodpecker Model Railways shop in Pendle Hill to find toy trains to add to his collection.

Rod is an avid model train collector who has spent 30 years designing an American model city in his home in England.

The sighting comes after he moved his planned concert at Mt Duneed Estate, which he later performed with Cyndi Lauper and Jon Stevens.

In a statement he aired last month, the rock star said he was “feeling great” and asked fans to “please hold onto your tickets.”

Roundhouse Entertainment executive Michael Newton said he was “thrilled” that they were able to “find a free date” for Rod, Cyndi and Jon to do a catch-up gig.
