Rockets ‘cut ties with Kevin Porter Jr. by trading the troubled guard to the Thunder, who plan to release him’: Ex-USC star faces third-degree assault charge for alleged attack on girlfriend

Kevin Porter Jr. becomes an NBA free agent following allegations that he punched his girlfriend at a Manhattan hotel on September 11.

The Houston Rockets are trading Porter to the Oklahoma City Thunder, who plan to release the former USC star, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Victor Oladipo and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl will head to Houston as part of the deal, while Oklahoma City acquires a pair of future second-round picks.

Porter had been asked to stay away from the Rockets following last month’s arrest in Manhattan when he was accused of assaulting his girlfriend, former WNBA star Kysre Gondrezick.

On Monday, New York City prosecutors reduced the assault charge against Porter after discovering he did not break a vertebra in Gondrezick’s neck as originally reported. Porter is due back in court on November 27.

Spokespeople for Thunder and Rockets did not immediately respond to DailyMail.com’s request for confirmation.
