Robson Green cut a smart figure when he stepped into the role of DI Geordie Keating while filming Grantchester season eight in Hertfordshire on Thursday.

The 57-year-old actor wore a long camel coat to play the part as he puffed on a cigarette as he strolled the set during intermissions.

Early Doors star Mark Benton, 56, who stars as a police officer, was also seen filming scenes with Robson wearing a traditional uniform.

Robson paired his soft jacket with a white shirt, brown tie and pinstripe suit for the day, and his hair outfit was modified and perfected by assistants on set.

The filming took place on a quiet, leafy street as the detectives got out of a smart police car.

Robson was also seen filming scenes with a horse for the upcoming ITV detective drama, set in the 1950s in the Cambridgeshire village of the same name.

ITV recently confirmed that the beloved crime drama Grantchester, which began in 2014, will return for its eighth series.

Reverend Will Davenport finally got his happily ever after by marrying the newcomer to the village, Bonnie Evans, at the end of series seven.

But according to the synopsis for the new series, Will and his detective buddy, Geordie (Robson), won’t have it easy.
