Roblox founder and CEO David Baszucki has told his employees to return to the office or leave the company.
In an update shared with the entire company, Baszucki explained that most employees would have to work in the office three days a week, Tuesday through Thursday, or “take a severance package.”
Like many other companies, this decision is based on productivity levels and benefits related to ad hoc calls.

Just months after many companies began demanding a mass return to the office, Roblox has announced plans to do the same. Remotely and hybrid employees will be asked to return to the San Mateo, California office “by next summer.”
In the announcement, Baszucki noted that new and young employees in particular benefit from the social contact that is only possible in the office, allowing them to be part of spontaneous conversations and be guided by seniors.
Reflecting on his first in-person meeting post-quarantine, Baszucki said, “Within 45 minutes, I came away from three separate conversations with spontaneous to-do’s and ideas to put into motion, something that hadn’t happened in recent years. video meetings.”
Citing optimism about engaging, collaborative and productive virtual workspaces, he adds: “We’re not there yet.”
The new rule applies to all employees, except those who must work remotely, and “individuals with specific skills or significant institutional knowledge.”
At the bottom of the announcement are a series of deadlines for employees to make their decisions, move and work from the office.
Roblox says it will “help with moving costs.” We asked the company what this means and for more details on the severance packages, but we didn’t get an immediate response.
