Robin Williams’ daughter Zelda claps back at viral post of her father that claimed he had a ‘pet monkey’ – on 10th anniversary of his death

Robin Williams’ daughter Zelda, 35, responded to a viral photo of her father with a monkey on his shoulder.

The photo was originally shared on X (formerly Twitter), where the caption claimed the photo showed Robin with his “pet monkey,” just days before his death.

Zelda turned red when the user incorrectly referred to the monkey who was his co-star in A Night at the Museum as his “pet.”

‘It has been brought to my attention that some likely AI written BS like this is going viral. Dad didn’t have a pet monkey, NO ONE should, and if you are ever tempted to do so, please support your local exotic animal rescue groups instead.

She continued, “That’s his Night at the Museum co-star, who’s now at one year old.”

Robin Williams’ daughter Zelda, 35, had some words about a viral photo of her dad with a monkey on his shoulder

The monkey – whose name is Crystal – played Dexter in the franchise, which starred Robin until his death in 2014.

She also indicated that the photo is a real photo of her father, but: “It’s just not the last photo.”

The Oscar winner committed suicide on August 11, 2014 at the age of 63.

In addition to Zelda, the late actor also has a son, Cody, 31, with his second wife Marsha Garces, and a son, Zak, 40, with his first wife Valerie Velardi.

On the 10th anniversary of her father’s death, Zelda warned her followers about “false” or “poorly researched” reports about her father.

“And since there are probably more completely false or poorly researched posts going viral on the anniversary of Dad’s death, maybe you can just assume they’re all BS (they usually are). Ignore the creepy robots trying to hoard your clicks and do something nice for yourself instead. I definitely will,” she posted on X.

Zelda has previously spoken out about the use of artificial intelligence in dubbing the voices and likenesses of stars without their involvement and/or consent during the SAG/AFTRA strike last year.

She said her father was “fighting the good fight” with the union.

Zelda wrote in an Instagram Story: ‘I’ve seen for YEARS how many people want to train these [AI] models to create/recreate actors who cannot give consent, such as daddy.

“I’ve heard of AI making its ‘voice’ say whatever people want it to. I find that personally disturbing, but the implications go far beyond my own feelings,” she wrote.

‘Living actors deserve the opportunity to create characters of their own choosing, to voice cartoons, and to put their HUMAN effort and time into pursuing their acting.

‘These recreations are, at their best, poor copies of larger people, but at their worst, a hideous Frankenstein-like monster, composed of the worst bits of everything this industry is, rather than what it should stand for.’
