Robin van Persie has said that Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho is “someone to watch”.
The Argentine will be out for several weeks due to the ankle injury suffered in United’s goalless draw with Southampton last weekend.
The 18-year-old expressed his disappointment at missing out on United’s Europa League round of 16 clash with Real Betis and the FA Cup quarter-final against Fulham.
However, the 39-year-old former Arsenal striker praised how Garnacho ‘handles difficult situations and pressure’.
Speaking to BT Sport, Van Persie explained: ‘Garnacho is someone to watch, you know he’s still very young, a very talented player.

“If you look at how he handles difficult situations, how he handles pressure, how he creates, especially for his age, he’s very special.”
Garnacho joins Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek on the casualty list.
United also lost Casemiro to a four-match ban after he was sent off for the second time this season against Southampton.

It comes after Persie compared Erik ten Hag to a prime minister after receiving a masterclass in the art of management from the United boss.
“I get new ideas everywhere and he was one of them that really opened doors and I appreciate that.”
He continued: ‘With each exercise there is a clear idea or a clear objective for each player.
“He gave me a lot of information to work on, both in possession and when the opponent has the ball.”
‘Also how to manage: not just a team, but a whole club. He almost feels like a Prime Minister, the job he has. I always feel very welcome here at Manchester United and I like to see that everyone is polite and that everyone is happy to see you. That goes both ways.
