Robert Irwin shares an emotional post on the milestone day for his family, eliciting an outpouring of love from fans.

Robert Irwin shared a moving message Friday to mark the 31st wedding anniversary of his mother Terri and late father Steve Irwin.

Posting the heartbreaking tribute on Instagram, the 19-year-old wildlife warrior said their wedding “kick-started” a “larger-than-life” legacy of which he was “proud”.

Alongside the beautiful caption was a photo of her famous parents in the early days of their relationship with Steve wearing their iconic khakis while Terri held a lizard.

Robert, 19, (pictured) Irwin shared a touching message Friday to mark the 31st wedding anniversary of his parents, Terri, and the late Steve Irwin.

“It was on this day 31 years ago that my parents became engaged and set in motion what would become a larger-than-life legacy,” Robert wrote.

Steve, known as The Crocodile Hunter, died on September 4, 2006, at the age of 44, after a ray pierced his chest while filming a wildlife documentary called Ocean’s Deadliest in Queensland.

He is survived by his wife Terri, daughter Bindi and son Robert.

Terri has never dated or remarried since her husband’s death, despite rumors of affairs with the likes of Russell Crowe over the years.

Meanwhile, the Irwins have kept Steve’s memory alive through their conservation work at Australia Zoo.

His most recent tribute to Steve is the Crocodile Hunter Lodge, consisting of luxury cabins located within the zoo grounds.

Steve died on 4 September 2006, aged 44, after a stingray barb pierced his chest while filming a wildlife documentary in Queensland. He is survived by his wife Terri, his daughter Bindi and his son Robert.
