Robbie Williams reveals the real reason he ended his fling with Geri Halliwell after reflecting on their ‘magical’ romance in his Netflix documentary

Robbie Williams has revealed he has ended his ‘magical’ Noughties romance with Geri Halliwell after he was wrongly told she tipped off paparazzi about their relationship.

The singer, 49, has opened up about his relationship with the Spice Girl in his new Netflix documentary, revealing it was more than a fling and that it felt ‘magical’.

In the series, which is released on November 8, Robbie explained that their relationship began while he was going through Alcoholics Anonymous and that he was warned about getting into a relationship with anyone at a time of vulnerability.

Robbie said, ‘You can’t even take care of a cactus, let alone anyone else.’

Robbie and Geri, 51, enjoyed a romance together in the early 1990s, spending an extended holiday in the south of France with Robbie’s songwriting partner, Guy Chambers and his wife Emma.

According to The Mirror, Robbie openly stated in the documentary that he was the happiest he had been in ten years, but his paranoia got the better of him.

He said: ‘We got on really well, it was fun, and we were just a little gang sharing a really magical moment, in a magical place.’

The images show them cuddling and having fun, playing and singing with each other on a boat during one of their many world trips.

Rumors swirled that Geri called out the paparazzi on the couple as they tried to enjoy their time together.

Discussing the rumors, Robbie said he spoke to a paparazzi who blamed Geri, saying, “Now I don’t think that’s true, but at the time I believed it. It just goes to show what being in the spotlight can do to your psyche, when you can’t trust anyone.”

The documentary covers a series of Robbie’s relationships, including All Saints singer Nicole Appleton.

The couple was engaged twice, but Robbie remembered the relationship as a “kid talking to his mother.”

The documentary is a deep dive into the former Take That singer’s career, trials and tribulations and his relationship with drugs and alcohol.

Viewers can also get a glimpse into Robbie’s mental health during the addictions.

The most impactful part of the documentary shows Robbie at a concert in Leeds, where he suffers a panic attack throughout the show.

Despite being unfit to perform, he continued and played another concert the following evening.

The movie as a whole was hard to watch. Robbie compared it to watching a car crash in slow motion, but he understood and appreciated that it was incredibly cathartic to watch.

Robbie also reflected on his current relationship and how lucky he is to have met his wife, Ayda, 44.

The couple started dating in 2006 and tied the knot in 2010.

Since their wedding, the happy couple have had four children: Teddy, 10, Charlie, 8, Coco, four, and Beau, three.
