In addition to singing his catchy new song in the ad, the global superstar will be voicing the famous feline Felix.

Photographs that broke the news showed Robbie holding a mug that read “I love cats” as he relaxed in an easy chair surrounded by his feline friends.

He cut a graceful figure in a black shirt, sleeves rolled up to show off his tattoos, and straight-leg jeans as he petted the cats.

The Los Angeles hitmaker was seen touching up her makeup while styling her silver locks in a slicked-back style for the photo shoot.

Speaking about the campaign, Robbie said: ‘The cat is out of the bag, I’m the new voice of Felix.

“I’ve been a long-time fan of cats, have had many feline friends over the years, and after studying their fascinating behavior, I can confidently say: It’s great to be a cat.”

In a video, Robbie also explained that he’s always wanted to write a song for an ad, describing his latest song as an “earworm.”

He said: ‘I wanted to write a song for an ad, and this song is an absolute worm. The melody is good, the lyrics are good, the music is good. People will feel soft and warm and fuzzy, and then they will feel upset that the song is still in their head.

“It’s great to be a cat because you always end up landing on your feet, like me,” he added.

Fabio Degli Esposti, Group Marketing Director at Purina, said: “Combining our much-loved FELIX food and beloved Felix the cat character with the one and only Robbie Williams gives us our best recipe yet. The two getting into mischief together at the premiere from their own film, shows exactly why they fit together perfectly.’

Rebecca Marshall, Purina UK&I Senior Brand Director, said: “I’m so excited to launch our latest It’s Great To Be a Cat campaign with Robbie Williams.” The two really are the pURRfect match and the new track will definitely put everyone in a fun frame of mind.

Robbie’s song is available to stream on Spotify, while the ad will air exclusively on YouTube at 5:00pm on January 25.

Their latest professional venture comes after Robbie and Mark Owen thrilled Take That fans when they reunited in a hilarious Instagram video on Sunday.

The couple was filmed by Robbie’s wife, Ayda Field, eating pizza while bizarrely sitting in high chairs.

Mark, 50, and Robbie joked that they were the babies of the band as they sat in high chairs belonging to Robbie’s four-year-old daughter Coco and two-year-old son Beau.

Ayda quipped: ‘I enjoyed you two in the baby seats. I think it’s a good look,’ as Robbie replied: ‘There was nowhere else for us to sit. And we are also the babies of the band.

Fans were very excited to see the two singers together and were quick to thank Ayda for sharing the clip.

The reunion comes after Mark recently said he would “love” Robbie to rejoin Take That.

Take That formed in 1989 and achieved 12 number one singles on the UK Singles Chart along with eight number one albums and are currently the most successful boy band in UK chart history.

The original lineup included 47-year-old Robbie, who left the band in 1995 and went on to go on to a highly successful solo career. The group dissolved a year later.

In 2006 the band, minus Robbie, reunited and enjoyed great success once again.

Robbie returned to the band in 2010 for the new album Progress, but quit once in 2014.

Mark has previously said that he, Gary Barlow and Howard Donald were planning their next LP as a trio, but hoped Robbie could join them at some point.

Take That fans have also been waiting for the release of Greatest Days.

The film follows a young boy band inspired by, but not equal to, the real-life pop group, engaging newcomers Aaron Bryan, Dalvin Cory, Joshua Jung, Mark Samaras, and Mervin Noronha.
