Nice try! Bumbling robbers fail to open an ATM after dragging it from a gas station convenience store and repeatedly ramming it with their Jeep Cherokee for FIVE minutes, before finally giving up

  • Two robbers broke into a Washington gas station at 4:30 am on January 17.
  • They tried to steal money from an ATM after breaking into the store, but couldn’t.
  • The unidentified thief later abandoned his mission when they couldn’t get hold of the prize money. They are still on the run, according to police.

Two bumbling thieves were caught trying, and failing, to steal money from a gas station ATM for five minutes during a morning raid in Washington.

The unidentified men in the surveillance footage can be seen breaking into the Ben’s Market/76 gas station on Blaine Road at around 4:30am on January 17.

Agents were alerted to the robbery after two robbers used a stolen red Jeep and a tow strap to enter the store and rob an ATM.

The men, dressed in hoodies and hats, can be seen approaching the pumps before pulling out a yellow tow strap and attaching it to the back of the car.

Next, the man in the orange hoodie attaches the other side to the front doors of the gas station as the driver walks away and opens the door.

They eventually left the scene after they couldn’t get the money.

He then backs away as the man in the orange jacket runs in and out of the heavy ATM just behind the doors.

One of the thieves manages to get the machine upright, albeit upside down, while his partner-in-crime continually moves back and forth.

As the other man struggles to open the ATM, the driver takes matters into his own hands, repeatedly backing over the machine.

Even though the entire plastic front of the machine has come off, they still can’t access the precious paper inside.

When they rammed the car into the ATM and the building didn’t work multiple times, they resorted to running him over near the gas pump.

The man in the orange hoodie drags the machine to the passenger-side door before ditching it next to a gas pump, as the driver rolls the vehicle forward and hits it over and over again.

As the two men realize the crime is fruitless, the man in the orange hood jumps into the passenger seat and they drive off in his stolen getaway car.

The car, which was stolen in Bellingham earlier that morning, was later found abandoned in the woods.

The Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office is still looking for the men and is encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
