Rob Schneider dropped a major bombshell about the sequel to Adam Sandler’s hit 1996 film Happy Gilmore.
The 60-year-old actor jokingly told Channel Seven’s Sunrise that he will play the role of the main character, instead of Adam.
During the interview, breakfast show host Matt Shirvington asked Rob: “Happy Gilmore 2 is happening. Are you in?’
‘Yes, I’m going to play Happy Gilmore. Not Adam,” Rob responded before adding, “No, I’m just kidding.”
Rob also revealed how Adam called him from Italy and told him he was considering a sequel to the iconic film.

“Why did he want to do it?” Matt asked.
‘I just don’t think he can stop making films. He doesn’t know what else to do with his life,” says Rob, who is currently touring Australia with his comedy show.
“But I guess after all these years it seems like it would be good timing.”
Drew Barrymore confirmed in April that Happy Gilmore 2 is in the works and revealed that Adam had written a sequel to the sports comedy.
While discussing the topic in a preview clip of her talk show, Drew explained how she texted her Fifty First Dates co-star, 57, to find out if he had written a new screenplay.
The actor, 60, jokingly told Channel Seven’s Sunrise that he will play the role of the main character and not Adam Sandler.
The actress said, “Are you kidding me? I want that. I need it and I stayed up last night with my daughter watching Billy Madison.
“And then I sent Sandler a video of that and then he sent me another video back and I’m waiting to see if he confirms the Happy Gilmore 2 script…
“Because actor Christopher McDonald, who was Shooter McGavin, is the villain. He was in the original film… he claims Adam recently showed him a copy of the first cut of the Happy Gilmore sequel.
“And so I wait to find out if Christopher McDonald is right, which I don’t doubt. I’m a real journalist, I sent him a photo of all of us [at the show].’
The clip then jumped and rejoined Drew as she looked at her phone and excitedly announced, “Well, this just came in.” I have the latest news. So I’m just saying this from my source that it is ongoing… So there is a process and that process is ongoing.”
