Rob Schneider: Comedian doesn’t hold back as he blasts Will Smith in scathing interview two years after Oscars slap

American comedian Rob Schneider has brutally criticized actor Will Smith in a scathing interview, labeling the Hollywood star a ‘liar’ and a ‘bastard’.

The 60-year-old actor and comedy legend appeared on KIIS FMs Kyle & Jackie O show on Wednesday morning, where he didn’t hold back on the Oscar winner two years after he punched fellow comedian Chris Rock onstage at the 94th Academy Awards.

When co-host Kyle Sandilands asked Schneider if he had contacted close friend Rock, 59, after the incident, the funnyman unleashed a five-minute tirade against Smith, 55.

“Will Smith is a wuss,” he began. “Will Smith has been hiding the fact of who he really is and that night it was revealed that he really is an asshole.”

“But it’s deep and dark to do that in front of all those people and in front of a really great legendary comedian [Chris Rock] who is literally the best comedian of our generation. Without Chris Rock you wouldn’t have this whole wave of comedy. He kicked the doors open.

‘But I wasn’t allowed to say anything at the time because we were part of the committee that had to punish him.

‘He’s a liar. A complete, total fraud. And it was exposed at that time.”

Schneider highlighted the moment Smith stormed the stage after Rock made a joke about the actor’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

“Will is an asshole. The point is that the Academy is politically correct. That they were so cowardly. Because if I had done that, they would have been taken to jail, but because they were so afraid of being racist or whatever, they said… “We can’t offend,” he continued.

‘But the point is: violence is what it is. And whether it’s the color of your skin or your religion, it doesn’t matter if you commit a crime in front of other people, you’re going to be dragged out of there.”

“Will Smith is an idiot,” Schneider said. “Will Smith has been hiding the fact of who he really is and that night it was revealed that he really is an asshole.”

Schneider revealed that he did not attend or watch the ceremony and therefore did not witness the blow in real time.

The actor was directing a film in Mexico when he heard from his assistant director that his friend Rock had been attacked on stage.

“I was sitting in a car and my assistant principal looked at me and said, ‘Ugh.’ I said, “What happened?” and she said “Chris Rock just got punched by Will Smith”. I said, “Get out of here. It didn’t happen.” I called and sure enough it happened,” he recalls.

‘[Rock] didn’t want to talk to anyone. I don’t blame him. But it took him a while before he could respond to it because it was a lot. And he’s a very sensitive, wonderful guy and he’s literally a genius. And so I’m just trying to find the right way at the right time… because I would have said something. I’m an idiot, I would have…tried to back out.”

In 2022, at the time of the blow, Schneider turned to X and wrote: “There is never an excuse for violence. Ever. Ever. Ever. Ever. Ever. Ever. Ever. Ever. Ever. Ever.’

Jada Pinkett Smith recently released a memoir, revealing a seven-year separation from her husband.
