Rob Gronkowski has revealed he got into foul trouble with the Patriots just minutes after being drafted by the team in 2010.
The ex-tight end, whose outgoing personality was a highlight during the team’s three Super Bowl victories under Bill Belichick and Tom Brady in the 2010s, appeared on the docuseries “The Dynasty: New England Patriots” on AppleTV+ and recalled that he was dragged over the coals for a party with his family on Draft Day 14 years ago, when the Pats selected him in the second round at No. 42 overall.
“When I got drafted to the Patriots, it was a proud moment,” said Gronkowsi, who was interviewed alongside Brady for the docuseries.
‘My family also came on stage. We got confused. We sat in the group (cheering), jumping up and down.
“And then all of a sudden I got a call from the Patriots and they said, ‘Hey Rob, you can leave now, like enough is enough.’ And I’m sitting there saying, ‘Wow, I’m already in trouble. It’s been five minutes since I’ve been with the Patriots, and I’m already in trouble.”
