Rob Cross was rated at a staggering 14/1 to win against Chris Dobey after falling four sets behind before claiming victory in the quarter-final.
Cross had been looking down and out as Dobey launched himself within one run of victories over Alexandra Palace on Monday night.
But the 2018 world champion somehow found a way back into the match, becoming only the third player to win a World Championship quarter-final from four sets down.
He will face 16-year-old sensation Luke Littler in the semi-finals after beating Brendan Dolan 5-1.
It has now emerged that Cross's odds of winning the match at Paddy Power went to 14/1 after Dobey raced into the big lead.

Dobey came so close to victory at Alexandra Palace, but ultimately fell a little short

After the match, Cross admitted he 'didn't feel like myself' during the early stages before starting the sensational comeback.
'I haven't really played [well]I missed a few opportunities early on. I didn't really feel like myself, but towards the end I was like, 'Just keep going, we're going to win,'” Cross said.
“But in the beginning, thanks to Chris… how good was he? He actually kicked me in the mouth.
'It's all about me and I still believe in it, even if I'm 4-0 down. I had one of the biggest comebacks against Chris in the Matchplay, so I might as well get into the World Cup now. But the honor goes to him. He's great, he'll step up again.'

With a 4-0 lead, Dobey was just three legs away from booking a place in the semi-finals. But Cross had other ideas and somehow found the mental strength to launch his comeback.
Cross leveled at 4-4 and then took a two-leg lead in the deciding set, eventually hitting double eight to seal his famous win and set up a date with Littler.
