The horror of road rage when a person is stabbed with a PEN on a busy road in South Sydney

A person has been stabbed with a pen in a road rage incident on a busy road in south Sydney.

Police said emergency services called Southern Cross Drive in Mascot at around 3:25pm following reports that a garbage truck driver was allegedly assaulted with a pen by the driver of another vehicle.

The driver of the garbage truck, a 49-year-old man, was taken to the hospital with superficial injuries to his arm.

Two southbound lanes on Southern Cross Drive between General Holmes Drive and Botany Road have been closed to traffic.

Two of the three lanes have reopened, but drivers have been advised to allow more time for travel and to use caution.

Police said they are looking for the driver of a silver Kia Carnivale wagon.
