Riverdale, Perth: How two allegedly drunk men demanded ‘Vodka and vapes’ while preventing tradies starting work when they refused to come down off a building for eight hours

Two men found themselves in an eight-hour standoff with police after allegedly climbing onto the roof of a building and refusing to come down.

The shocking incident took place at a construction site on Rowe Avenue in Riverdale, near Perth, after local residents spotted the men on the roof of the building at around 1.15am on Thursday.

Western Australian police officers were called to the scene to try to get the pair safely off the roof after they refused to climb down.

Instead of following instructions to get down, the men were heard screaming during the dramatic ordeal with officers before lying on the roof and taking a nap.

They woke up just before 9am and reportedly threw bags of concrete powder that shook the scaffolding, while a man reportedly urinated on the roof of the structure.

As police tried to get the pair to the ground, they began negotiating with officers, demanding vodka and vapes.

The pair eventually came downstairs around 9:30 a.m. and spoke briefly with officers before quickly making their way back upstairs to the upper part of the building.

They came back downstairs before reportedly trying to run away, but were arrested by police a short time later.

A WA Police spokesperson told Ny Breaking Australia the men are now in custody, along with a woman who was also in the building.

“The police attended the scene and found three people at the scene,” the spokesperson said.

“A female was located on the third floor and was escorted from the location.”
