‘I have now really learned to recognize when it is coming. Before I still felt like it was strange, and I would do little things, like in my nervous system around me is my stomach, I do a lot of ancient acupuncture there, and I just breathe and I just lie there for about 20 minutes. minutes.
‘I love Chinese medicine, I try to integrate many different methods, I’m not just a one-man shop.’
Rita also revealed that after becoming ‘obsessed’ with Wim Hof’s methods, which included regular meditation and ice baths, she surprised her husband Taika Waititi by letting him visit their home.
She explained, “I actually asked him to come surprise my husband for his birthday, and my husband isn’t as obsessed as I am, and he didn’t know he was coming.
“It was really special that he flew in and did this for us, so we woke up, it was his birthday and when he walked in, my jaw dropped.
‘I just thought ‘wow, he’s real! ”, because I’ve always heard his methods and listened to him online, he’s just as crazy and fun as I thought he was going to be.
“He did a 20-minute breathing meditation, and we lay down in the shade and you couldn’t hear anything, just the birds.”
Rita previously shared her mental health struggles through the lyrics on her third album You and I, revealing she underwent therapy after losing a part of herself during years of partying.

Her husband, director Taika, 48, also released a project in 2023: the feature film Next Goal Wins, which he promoted on Jimmy Fallon.
They got married in August 2022, but Rita didn’t confirm the marriage until January 2023 when she told Heart FM: ‘Yes (I’m married). I’m officially off the market folks.
She admitted: ‘When the rumors came out – isn’t she? – I wanted to play it. I wanted to have a wedding that didn’t go to plan… that doesn’t mean it actually happened.”
She also recently opened up about whether or not children are on the horizon, admitting that her relationship with Taika had “made her more mature.”
The singer told Blag Magazine that getting married was enough pressure, but “then it’s like having kids and all these things they teach you.” But I never believed in that.’
She and Taika certainly have plenty of space now that they’ve purchased a three-story townhouse in New Zealand.
