Rita Ora mistook a peach for a ‘dusty apple’ during the Big Breakfast revival on Saturday.
The singer, 31, made the jaw-dropping gaffe while chatting to hosts AJ Odudu and Mo Gilligan via video call – but managed to keep schtum on her recent marriage to Taika Waititi.
And later in the episode, The Masked Singer presenter Joel Dommett revealed the talent show judge had ‘stupidly’ mistaken one contestant for the late Muhammad Ali – who died in 2016 – during filming for the upcoming series.
What?! Rita Ora mistook a peach for a ‘dusty apple’ and thought a Masked Singer contestant was the late Muhammad Ali during an appearance on Saturday’s Big Breakfast revival
Making her virtual appearance with music producer Netsky to promote their new single Barricades, the Poison songstress was discussing the snacks she munches on while filming TMS when she became confused by the contents of her fruit bowl.
The astonished star said: ‘I just looked in my fruit bowl… a dusty apple. Look at this! Can you see it? I don’t even know if it’s an apple, I think it might be a shrivelled pear.’
Struggling to contain her laughter when Rita raised the mystery object to the camera, AJ said: ‘I’m sorry to break it to you. It’s a peach, not an apple!’
An embarrassed Rita, who had Zoomed in from LA, joked: It’s 3am guys, give me a break!’

He said: ‘We’re all guessing these stupid things. Rita… she once guessed Muhammad Ali! That’s the stupidest guess of all time.
‘Alan Partridge! She didn’t know that it was a character,’ he then added of actor Steve Coogan’s fictional role.
It comes after Rita married Taika in an intimate ceremony in London, according to reports on Monday.

The star is said to have already changed her surname and will now be known as Mrs Waititi-Ora.
The Hot Right Now hitmaker and the Thor: Love And Thunder director, 46, have both been pictured with gold bands on their ring fingers in recent days – sparking speculation they had already tied the knot.
Rita and Taika started dating in March 2021, before going public with their romance that August.
The couple got engaged two months ago, and sources now claim that they are planning a huge party to celebrate their secret wedding with friends and family.

A source told The Sun: ‘It was a really intimate ceremony and super special for everyone there. Their nearest and dearest can see how madly in love they are.
‘Despite living in the spotlight, Rita is determined to keep the relationship as private as possible and didn’t want to make a big song and dance about the wedding.
‘Rita’s already back in the studio working on her third album, with her latest session being with Ava Max and Noah Cyrus’ writer Rollo.’
MailOnline contacted representatives for Rita and Taika for comment at the time.

It comes after Taika came under fire for resurfaced anti-trans tweets and for dead-naming Caitlyn Jenner after branding himself a ‘gay icon.’
Unearthed tweets from almost a decade ago, drew criticism for shaming trans women and beauty pageant contestants.
A tweet from January 16, 2013 reads: ‘No disrespect to men who want to be/dress as women. I should have just said their makeup looks manly. Also no disrespect to meth users.’
The ‘meth user’ remark followed an earlier rant in which he criticised beauty pageant contestants, writing: ‘Combining heels and bikini whilst plastering your face in orange so you resemble a leather pudding is totes empowering.’
Historic: Taika was recently criticised for a trans-phobic tweet from January 16, 2013
It’s not cool: He was called out by a fellow Twitter user which led to an argumentative exchange
He was called out at the time, when a fellow Twitter user @carocreature, wrote: ‘Slut-shaming, transphobia, and immense misogyny all in one tweet. But dude, not cool.’
Taika wrote back: ‘No it is cool.’
Caro wrote: ‘No, Taika, it’s not cool. You need to apologise. My trans* friends who struggle with suicide daily due to similar comments hardly think so.’
Taika responds: ‘My trans friends can walk in heels. but you’re right, actual kathoey are better looking.’
‘Kathoey’ is a word used for trans women in Thailand..
A tweet from April 2015 deadnamed Caitlyn Jenner days after she came out as a trans woman.
Deadnaming is when someone refers to a transgender or non-binary person by a name they used prior to transitioning, such as their birth name.
Taika wrote: ‘We’ll all be wearing #JeSuis[Caitlyn]Jenner badges by Monday.’
The posts might not reflect Taika’s current way of thinking and MailOnline has contacted a spokesperson for him for comment.
