Rising British star Jack Draper will miss Wimbledon after another injury setback… and the 21-year-old will miss the entire grass season to rest his injured shoulder
- Jack Draper will have to miss the entire grass season due to a shoulder injury
- The 21-year-old was forced to withdraw from the first round of the French Open
- He also suffers from discomfort around the hip and abdominal area
Jack Draper’s season of injury trouble continued and he was banned from participating in the entire grass-court season, including Wimbledon.
The 21-year-old from Surrey, Britain’s most promising player on the men’s side, has been told to rest the shoulder he sprained that saw him withdraw from his first round of the French Open last week.
While something as drastic as surgery will not be necessary, he is not expected to be able to compete again until late July, at the start of the US hard court season.
Draper has had several ailments this year, mainly around the hip and abdomen, which have hampered his progress in the rankings, and he has only played three tournaments since Australia.
As one of the few British players not requiring a wildcard to enter events, it’s a heavy blow to the home contingent, who are already without Emma Raducanu.
