Rio Ferdinand has named the Premier League club he would like Jose Mourinho to manage after he was sacked by Roma.
Mourinho was sacked by Roma last week as the Italian team languished in ninth place in Serie A after a disappointing start to the season.
The 60-year-old coach has reportedly turned down an offer to take charge of Saudi Pro League team Al-Shabab as he looks to return to management.
Speaking of his Vibe with Five podcastFerdinand joined speculation about Mourinho’s next destination.
The former Man United defender dismissed suggestions that Mourinho could succeed Gareth Southgate as England boss, questioning whether he could take charge of Chelsea for a third time.

Ferdinand revealed he would ‘love’ to see Mourinho take charge of Newcastle as the Magpies look to challenge the Premier League’s elite under their Saudi ownership.
He admitted he would not want to see current Newcastle boss Eddie Howe sacked, insisting the 46-year-old had done an ‘unreal’ job at the club.
“I don’t think the FA will hire a Jose Mourinho, I would, but I don’t think the FA will go from Gareth Southgate to Mourinho,” Ferdinand said.
‘That is too big a difference in character and personality. That’s like ready-made salted vindaloo, it doesn’t happen.
‘Chelsea, Mourinho, no chance. They would go backwards and these Americans are not going backwards like that.
‘I would like to see Jose there again. I hope Jose gets the job if Pochettino doesn’t do well, but I think they will stick with Pochettino.
‘If he doesn’t go to Chelsea, where will he go? Newcastle, I’d love to see him there.
“But Eddie Howe, he’s been unreal. He’s done too well, I wouldn’t like to see him leave.’

Mourinho has already coached Chelsea twice, as well as his Premier League rivals Man United and Tottenham.
The Portuguese coach was strongly linked to ex-Newcastle boss Sir Bobby Robson.
Mourinho started his coaching career under the iconic boss of both Porto and Sporting Lisbon, initially working as a translator before becoming his assistant.
Reports earlier this week claimed Mourinho is keen to take a break from his career after being sacked by Roma, who he led to the first Europa Conference League in 2022.
