Rio Ferdinand has claimed that Bayern Munich youngster Jamal Musiala could win the Ballon d’Or in the future.
The 20-year-old is undoubtedly one of the standout young players in Europe and he has continued to progress at an impressive pace.
Ferdinand also praised Musiala’s mentality, which he believes will ensure the Germany international remains at the top level for another decade.
Ferdinand told TNT Sports: ‘I love him. I don’t know where his ceiling is and it’s nice to see the comments from his teammates saying how diligent he is, how much of a professional he is.
‘(Leon) Gortezka says he is the best talent Germany has ever had. The way he moves and slides with the ball. I see a Ballon d’Or somewhere in his career if he fulfills that potential.’

Ferdinand compared Musiala to Manchester City’s Phil Foden in terms of the impressive way he gets possession of the ball.
He said: “He and Phil Foden receive the ball best in that position at the moment behind the midfielders and defenders.
‘He doesn’t seem like the type to get too high when he’s winning, or too long when things aren’t going well. He seems like a very balanced, well-aimed guy with a lot of good people around him. That goes a long way and means there is a good chance he will remain at the top for a long time.’
Ferdinand added that the Musiala’s determination to continuously improve will serve him well.
He said: ‘It’s the ones who get too high and get out of their pram when things are going well and forget where they are and lose themselves, don’t come back to reality and keep working. They fall on the top of a cliff after two or three years. This boy will be there for the next ten, twelve years.’
