Rio Ferdinand has admitted he was wrong about Manchester United’s deficit, and is reconsidering his views on his former team after their 6-3 loss to Manchester City.
Erling Haaland and Phil Foden both scored hat-tricks to secure the city’s blue half after the derby at the Etihad Stadium.
And pundit Ferdinand, 43, revealed his continued disappointment in Erik ten Hag’s side throughout the first half of the game on Twitter, which ended 4-0 in favor of the Citizens.

Initially, less than 40 minutes into the game, Ferdinand tweeted: ‘My phone is pinging right away…For all the wrong reasons ffs.’, before quickly adding ‘Bunker pending…’.
His next message read: ‘WhatsApp groups on fire…for all the wrong reasons…’
He then admitted: “The class gap between @ManUtd and @ManCity is bigger than I thought before this match got underway…”
Ferdinand took to Twitter to voice what many Manchester United fans felt in the first half
While United saw three goals in the second half, via a fine goal from Antony and a brace from Anthony Martial, they were eventually undone by the combined brilliance of Haaland and Foden.
Ferdinand promoted his live post-match review, writing: ‘Absolutely dismantled… the rift between the two sides in Manchester! We showed some struggle in the 2nd half or City took the foot off the gas… By the way, Haaland treats these CBs in the Premier League with no respect’.
