Riley Gaines eviscerates ‘shameful’ Democrats after only two voted to ban transgender athletes in women’s sport – as she reveals what they do best
Former NCAA athlete Riley Gaines delivered a scathing message to “shameful” Democrats after just two voted in favor of a bill banning transgender athletes in women’s sports.
The U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday passed its first bill during the 119th Congress, voting in favor of the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, which would ensure that only people assigned female at birth can participate in women’s and girls’ athletics .
The revolutionary bill received a vote of 218 to 206, as all Republicans voted in favor, along with only two Democrats, Henry Cuellar and Vicente Gonzalez.
North Carolina Representative Don Davis, a Democrat, voted in attendance. Everyone else voted against the law.
During the ruling, Gaines, 24, who is leading a lawsuit against the NCAA over its position allowing trans athletes to compete as women, delivered a blistering message to the 206 “shameful” Democratic supporters.
‘We heard about things like genital exams, we heard that girls would be asked to show what’s in their underwear, we heard that they would have to show internal and external anatomy, inspections, Taliban-style enforcers, hiring of predators to police enforcement on and on and on, strange fear mongering about predators, but that’s what Democrats do best,” Gaines said.
Gaines also criticized those who said the bill was a “waste of time.”
“I’ve heard this bill is a waste of time, and let me tell you the message I got when I heard that: I’m a waste of time,” Gaines said.

“Girls across the country, like me, are a waste of time. Your daughters are a waste of time for all but two Democrats in the House of Representatives.”
Gaines, now a spokeswoman for the Independent Women’s Forum, famously tied Lia Thomas — the first openly transgender athlete to win an NCAA Division I national championship — for fifth place at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships in March 2022.
Others joined Gaines’ dismissive attack and shared their own take on the monumental statement.
“We had two Democrats with us, but it’s shameful, there should be many, many more. In fact, I maintain that every member of this body voted for common sense and for the protection of women. But for some reason, I think politically, they chose not to do that,” said House Speaker Mike Johnson.
“The American people sent a clear message in November: They want us to return to common sense, but it appears some of our friends in the other party are ignoring that plea,” he added.
Rep. Greg Steube echoed Johnson’s sentiments, adding, “Democrats have tried to be biological for years.” [men] to compete in the collegiate activities for women in our country.”
‘It is absolutely absurd that we actually have to pass a bill that says only women can participate in women’s sports!’

Now, in 2025, the legislation, if passed, will state that transgender women will have the right to practice or train with a program intended for women or girls, but will only be allowed to compete on teams consistent with their reproductive biology and genetics at birth.
Steube had a hand in reintroducing the bill to the House after a failed attempt to pass the bill in 2023.
The move comes years after President Biden issued an executive order on “preventing and combating discrimination on the basis of gender identity or sexual orientation.”
The order included a section that said: “Children should be able to learn without worrying about being denied access to the restroom, locker room or school sports.”
Now, in 2025, legislation stipulates that transgender women, if adopted, will have the right to practice or train with a program intended for women or girls, but may only compete on teams consistent with their reproductive biology and genetics at birth.
