Sunday’s halftime performance marked the first time Rihanna has performed on live television since 2018, when she joined DJ Khaled onstage to sing Wild Thoughts at the Grammy Awards.
The nine-time Grammy winner kicked off the show by suspended from a platform above the field while singing her B**** Better Have My Money single.
A$AP Rocky kept a low profile at the event. The two have kept their growing family under the radar, and so far neither musician has shared the name of his son.
The hitmaker paired the suit with a set of chunky red sneakers. The platform she was suspended from then lowered onto the field, where she joined a troupe of white-clad dancers onstage.
She kept her dance moves to a minimum while letting the backup dancers take over.
Rihanna stayed true to the hits and didn’t reveal any new songs during her performance, which featured 12 songs. She had the crowd going wild when she transitioned to Where Have You Been, followed by the hit Only Girl (In The World).
We Found Love, Rude Boy and his hit Work followed, although his collaborator Drake did not appear on the last song. He continued with Wild Thoughts and Pour It Up.
The hitmaker chose some controversial songs, including an excerpt from her verse from rapper Kanye West’s All Of The Lights, and also performed part of Jay-Z’s Run This Town, which also featured West in his original version.
