Ricki-Lee Coulter to reunite with judge Marcia Hines on Australian Idol two decades after she auctioned for the singing show

Ricki-Lee Coulter has revealed why returning to Australian Idol is so special 20 years after the show made her famous.

The singer, 39, told The Western Australianshe is excited to reunite with Marcia Hines, who was a judge when she auditioned for season two of the show in 2004.

“I love Marcia, she’s my girl,” she said.

‘We have a 20-year history and we are very close, I love her dearly and so does Australia. I think everyone will be very happy to have her back on the show.”

Marcia appeared as a guest judge on the singing show’s final season, but this year her role has been upgraded.

She was part of the original Australian Idol judging panel, along with record executive Ian ‘Dicko’ Dickson and singer Mark Holden, before leaving the show in 2009.

She will star alongside Kyle Sandilands and Amy Shark on this season of the show.

Meanwhile, Ricki-Lee was 18 when she shot to fame after reaching the top 10 on Australian Idol in 2004.

She placed seventh and the talented artist has been a fixture in the music industry ever since.

Last year she co-hosted Channel Seven’s reboot of the show with Scott Tweedie.

Ricki-Lee also hosted the 2022 season of Australia’s Got Talent on Seven and was there to console the contestants backstage.

The Gold Coast native has four No. 1 hits on the ARIA Dance Chart, ten Top 10 singles on the ARIA Singles Chart, two Top 10 entries on the ARIA Albums Chart, and has amassed over 75 million streams.
