Ricki Lake, 55, says she lost 35lbs thanks to her WILLPOWER as she adds she was once 260lbs: ‘When I set my mind to something, I do it’

Ricki Lake talks about her 35-pound weight loss, which she did without the use of Ozempic or any other weight loss drug.

“I’m not a superhuman, but I am someone who, when I put my mind to something, for the most part, I do it,” she said People.

‘I have a lot of willpower. I’ve been big, I’ve been skinny. I’ve been 260 pounds; I weighed 120 pounds,” she added.

Lake adds that she feels different in her 50s because she doesn’t focus on “a number on a scale,” adding that “it’s really about feeling the best we can as long as we can.’

And when you get off the couch to start a weight loss and fitness journey, you don’t need a gym membership or expensive home fitness equipment.

“Go outside and walk. Get out and enjoy nature, rain or shine. I live in Malibu. I’m going to the mountains,” the former talk show host advised.

The key, Lake thinks, is to get her metabolism going.

Women’s metabolism naturally slows down as they age and as a result, they may be more prone to weight gain after age 50 and beyond.

“I walk my dog and my husband every morning,” Lake added.

“It’s meditative for me and it gets your heart rate going, it gets your metabolism going and it’s really been a game changer.”

After her doctor told her she wouldn’t lose weight without a pill or injection, she took it as a personal challenge and believes she was successful for one main reason: she loves herself.

And that’s the advice the Hairspray actress, 55, gives to others on their own weight loss journey.

“Love yourself first, above everything else,” she shared People.

“Honestly, get to a place of true self-love and self-acceptance and I think good things will come from that.”
