The Princess of Wales’s fourth ‘Together at Christmas’ Carol Service provides a moment to reflect on the importance of empathy, shining a light on individuals who have shown love and kindness to others in their community.

It comes after Richard revealed last month that he and his wife Judy were sleeping in separate beds.

The iconic duo first met in the 1980s while working at ITV Granada Television, before tying the knot in 1986.

Published by Kate Thornton Podcast White Wine Question TimeRichard made a candid confession about his and Judy’s long-term collaboration.

Richard revealed that he sleeps in the spare room when he presents Good Morning Britain because he has to wake up in the middle of the night and doesn’t want to disrupt Judy’s sleep.

“When I’m doing Good morning Great Britain I sleep in the guest room,” Richard admitted.

I probably sleep a little better in bed with Judy, but I can do just fine on my own too.’

As for the possibility of disrupting Judy’s sleep with the early awakening, he added, “I wouldn’t dream of doing that to Judy.”

Richard and Judy recently reflected on their relationship their Channel 5 documentaryOur Best Bits – In Our Own Words, broadcast in the summer.

The pair spoke about the first time they met in Granada and the initial chemistry between them.

Judy was married to journalist David Henshaw at the time and Richard was in the middle of a divorce from his first wife Lynda.

Judy said: ‘I remember you came into the newsroom on your first day, you were wearing a ridiculous sky blue suit… you just looked like a pr**.’

“I was appointed as your babysitter, in Grenada they had a system where the newcomer was assigned a father or mother to literally show him the ropes, and I was your mother.”

Reminiscing, Richard said: ‘I suddenly felt two hands on my neck and I heard a voice say, ‘I’m your mother’ and I turned around and it was this beautiful blonde. ‘

“It seemed like an odd thing to say, so I was like, ‘What?’” So yeah, she was my assigned mother.”

Opening up about their first kiss, the pair revealed it was after a day’s work in Blackpool in the back of a black cab.

‘We were filming in Blackpool, we spent a really long day filming promos, we really hit it off. We ended up getting a black cab, as the crew were away we went back to Manchester which was a good hour away.’

‘It was in the darkness of the taxi that we really fell for each other and kissed.’

The couple married and subsequently welcomed children Jack and Chloe, while also forging a successful presenting career together, with shows including This Morning and their own teatime magazine show.
