Richard Gere reveals why he’s quitting the U.S. with his wife and kids and moving to Spain
Richard Gere is about to move to Spain with his wife Alejandra Silva and family after years of living in the United States.
The Pretty Woman actor, 75, revealed he would be out of the country in time and in the Spanish capital Madrid to celebrate Thanksgiving with Alejandra’s loved ones.
Richard shared the big move on Wednesday’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, starting off by joking, “My wife is Hispanic.” Is this a problem for anyone?’
He then announced, “But my wife is Spanish, and she gave me about seven years here, so we’re going to spend a few years in Madrid.”
“Our children are bilingual, so they will flourish there,” he continued.
Richard and Alejandra, who married in 2018, share two sons: Alexander, five, and James, four.
Additionally, the Hollywood A-lister is stepfather to the Spanish activist’s 11-year-old son, Albert.
He is also father to son Homer, 24, whom he welcomed with his second wife, actress Carey Lowell.

The Pretty Woman actor confirmed his plans to move on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon
Richard did confirm that he won’t be leaving America forever, adding: “Of course I’ll be back.”
Speaking about his family, Richard said: “I love my wife, she is incredible. Great mother.
‘Children are healthy and happy. Of course there is nothing more.’
Turning his attention to their Thanksgiving plans, he continued, “My wife grew up in a big Spanish family, like a big Italian family, and her grandmother was kind of the glue that held it all together.
“And the grandmother died [about] two years ago so I can watch my wife transform into the new grandmother of this extended family.
“So she already has 35 people scheduled for Sunday lunch.”
Surprisingly, Richard isn’t the only celebrity to leave the US lately.
According to The Wrap, Ellen DeGeneres recently moved to England with her wife Portia de Rossi.

The couple share two sons, Alexander, five, and James, four, as well as Alejandra’s son from a previous relationship
The couple now reportedly lives in the Cotswolds, a rural part of south-west England, about 100 miles from London.
Meanwhile, Eva Longoria fled what she claims is a “dystopian” America and now lives between Mexico and Spain in fear that if “Trump keeps his promises” America will become a “scary place.”
Richard’s appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon came hours after he eliminated Savannah Guthrie at the start of his interview on the Today show.
The program quickly went off the rails when the show aired a segment of the actor in his new political thriller, The Agency.
However, producers cut the scene before the A-lister character Bosko gave the middle finger, so Richard took matters into his own hands and reenacted the moment live in Studio 1A.
As Savannah introduced him to viewers, Richard put her pride down, leaving her completely shocked.
Richard defended the move, saying, “Sorry, but I did that in the play.”
A stunned Savannah immediately tried to hide Richard’s hand with her script, declaring that she was “bleeping” him.
“You just made an obscene gesture on this family morning show,” she said.
