He proudly posed next to his daughter, who looked stunning in a figure-hugging black dress with silver sequin embellishments on the bust and a thigh-high slit.

The duo seemed to be having a good time as Olivia held a cup and beamed as her father grinned and pointed at her.

And the costume also had emotional significance for the star, who revealed he got the part in the musical film when his daughter was just eight and could never forget how excited she was to meet the girl group.

Richard captioned the candy photos: “Our beloved daughter @oliviagranted chose a Prom theme for her 36th birthday last night and insisted I wear my purple Clifford suit from SPICEWORLD THE MOVIE that has been zipped up in the attic for 28 years!

‘I was offered the role when she was eight, and her excitement about meeting the Spice Girls is something I’ll never forget!’

Richard’s pictures come after he claimed his daughter was treated ‘horribly’ by ‘famous household names’ while she worked as a production runner for two years in October.

The star was overcome with anger as he recalled how poorly his daughter Olivia – who is now a casting director – was treated on set.

When asked what the most ‘underrated’ role in the film industry was, Richard was quick to say that it was, in fact, runners.

A production runner works behind the scenes to assist the producer and director, performing multiple different tasks as and when assigned.

But Richard – who has worked with quite a few runners in his career – claimed they often have the toughest job of all.

He told Sky News: ‘The runners who paid the least money. They are the youngest, arrive at five in the morning and are the last to leave.

‘And if something goes wrong, they start working from dizzying heights.

‘I know because my daughter ran for two years and was treated horribly by some very famous names who changed their tune when they found out who her father was.

‘Which made it even worse. It made me curse those people even more.”

Richard shares Olivia with wife Joan Washington, 35, who died in 2021 after a battle with stage four lung cancer. He also has a stepson Tom from Joan’s previous marriage.

The actor admitted that he once confronted the famous name and called the person out on his behavior.

Richard previously revealed the ‘amazing mantra’ he has been living by since the death of his late wife.

Dialect coach Joan tragically passed away at the age of 75, eight months after she was diagnosed with cancer.

The actor told how his wife gave him words to live by in the days before she died, which has since helped him cope with the “abyss of grief.”

Speaking on the Zoe Ball Breakfast Show with Helena Bonham Carter, he said: ‘She said to me four days before she died, ‘I know you’ll be sad, but try to find a solution. bag full of happiness in every day”.

“It has been a great mantra to navigate the abyss of grief over the past fifteen months and I am grateful for that.”
