Footage from Penn Station showed stunned commuters on the platform as the brown creature trotted across the train tracks just before 11 a.m. Thursday.

Sources later said the bull escaped from a local slaughterhouse in Newark and will spend the rest of its life in a local animal shelter, reported by WCBS.

The large, copper-colored bull is named after one of the officers who helped him to safety yesterday.

Stura posted a photo of the bull in deep sleep after being captured yesterday.

The founder of the shelter wrote: Safe, but heavily sedated. I hope he's doing well. He's moving, but he hasn't gotten up yet.'

“Thank you all for the literally hundreds of calls alerting me to his situation,” Stura wrote.

Hours later, the young longhorn woke up from an anesthetic when the animal shelter shared a video showing him resting in a bed of hay.

Stura captioned the video: “He had a long hard day fighting for his life, thankfully it paid off.”

In the video, Ricardo can be seen resting on hay with a yellow numbered tag attached to his ear.

Stura said the bull has been examined by the shelter's veterinarian and “hopefully he will get up soon.”

The shrine encouraged people to “do the right thing, go vegan.”

The posts have generated overwhelming responses from social media users who were amazed by the bull's beauty and courage.

'He is a beautiful, majestic soul! Ricardo, you've hit the jackpot! Send healing energy your way! Stay strong,” one person wrote.

Another social media user said: 'So scared, running along the railway tracks, running for his life. He is beautiful and now people will take care of him.'
