RHOSLC star Mary Cosby shocks viewers after claiming she wears supersized tampons ‘to stop herself urinating’

A Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star has stunned viewers after making an outrageous claim about using super-sized tampons to keep her from peeing.

Mary Cosby, 51, made the incredible statement on the October 2 episode of the series, which saw the cast take a trip to Milwaukee to attend a basketball game.

When co-star Angie Katsanevas asked her if she needed to use the restroom, Mary replied, “No, I don’t use public restrooms.”

She continued, “I always wear a tampon and it holds it in.”

Surprised by the bizarre confession, Angie asked, “Is that real?”

Mary doubled down on the claim and said, “Promise. Buy a tampon. You don’t have to pee all the time.’

Mary later explained the questionable trick to producers, beaming, “It’s worked for me for years!”

“If you’re going to be away for a long time and have to run errands, just pop that bad boy in,” she continued.

“Just make sure it’s the super-sized one. It can’t be the medium or the small!’

After the episode aired, Mary’s castmate Heather Gay supported the bizarre method on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen.

“I know a few castmates have tried it and they confirm it works!” she said.

Viewers were shocked by the claim, with many taking to social media to express their disgust and confusion.

“Why do I think this is the fastest way to get a urinary tract infection?” one asked.

“My jaw was on the floor when she said this,” wrote another. ‘Not only is that very unsanitary, but it also smells terribly. I can’t imagine doing this, the heat and moisture are a breeding ground for an infection, whether it’s a yeast infection or a bladder infection.’

However, a number of people online also jumped to Mary’s defense.

“She’s crazy but I will say I pee a ton less with a tampon in,” one fan wrote on Reddit.

‘Tampons can help with incontinence problems in women. Some women after children will wear them while exercising, after children to prevent leaks,” wrote another.

Wearing tampons when you are not having your period is generally considered dangerous because it increases the chance of developing Toxic Shock Syndrome.

Another problem with wearing tampons when you are not having your period is dryness and possible infections, as the tampon can naturally absorb moisture into the vagina.

Mary has been one of the most controversial characters on RHOSLC since it premiered in 2020.

The glamorous preacher famously married her step-grandfather after her grandmother died.

She described their union as an ‘arranged marriage’ and admitted it caused jealousy between herself and her mother, who also wanted to marry him.
