Cheryl Hines is tempering her enthusiasm when it comes to the idea of First Lady fashion.
While a First Lady’s wardrobe is usually carefully curated and styled, Hines, 58, says that if she becomes First Lady, it will be a more casual affair.
Hines appeared on SiriusXM’s Literally With Rob Lowe and discussed the possibility of her presidential candidate husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., winning the election.
The wife of the actress-turned-politician, known for her role as Larry David’s husband on Curb Your Enthusiasm, has been married to the independent candidate since 2014.

“I’ll be honest with you, sometimes I think what’s really happening in that White House, you know what I mean? Is anyone walking around in slippers, in a bathrobe? Because that’s what I usually wear when I’m home,” Hines joked to Lowe.
“I just don’t know how that would turn out, you know what I mean?”
Lowe admitted that his knowledge of the White House residence comes from his time in the West Wing, speculating whether there would be the freedom to make something as simple as a sandwich for yourself; or if someone else insists on making it for you.
‘I think you can. Obviously that’s possible, but there’s probably a clerk there,” Lowe pondered.
Hines joked, “And then you say, no, no, I’ll do it, because I know how much mayonnaise.”
‘And they say, just tell me how much mayonnaise. And by the time you’re like, you know what, forget it.’
Many of the First Ladies of the United States – such as Jackie Kennedy and Michelle Obama – have become style icons while their husbands have held the position of leader of the free world.
However, Hines joked that she might not follow suit and exchanged ideas with Lowe on how she would handle the position.
“What if I became the First Lady, and every time I walked out of my room, I wore a different outfit and I was a designer from head to toe, and I was like, hey, I’m here,” she joked.
“When I wake up in the morning, I sleep in my ratty pajamas, but when I walk into the living room, yeah, I put on my silk Armani pajamas and dance around.”

Hines has spoken in the past about the possibility of becoming First Lady, admitting that it was never her “dream.”
She and the politician often went at each other online, but Cheryl came clean in 2022 after RFK Jr. came under intense fire for making a series of anti-vax comments about not agreeing on everything.
At the time, she wanted everyone to know that her husband’s “opinions do not reflect hers” and that their thoughts on “current issues” often “differ.”
In a previous interview with The Hollywood Reporter last year, she shared her thoughts on being First Lady, revealing that she was shocked that her husband’s high-profile political role did not come with Secret Service protection.
“You would think that this case, plus the fact that his father and uncle were both murdered, would make him eligible,” she said.
RFK Jr. is the son of Robert F. Kennedy, who served as attorney general and senator before being shot in 1968, and the nephew of President John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated in 1963.
In October 2023, a mentally ill man was arrested at the couple’s Los Angeles home after climbing the fence and reaching the second floor.
