The 16-year-old scored a wonder goal that proved decisive in La Roja’s 2-1 semi-final win over France on Tuesday, making the Barcelona star the youngest ever goalscorer at a European Championship.
The winger’s potential seems endless, but he is conspicuous by his absence in the EA FC 24 video game.
Despite having played for both the Catalan giants and his national team, Yamal is not available to players in the virtual world, raising questions as to why this is the case.
However, Yamal’s absence is due to the fact that he is only 16 years old, as EA Sports reportedly has a lenient rule that prohibits players under the age of 17 from appearing in the game.

The Barcelona winger is not allowed to play because he does not turn 17 until this weekend
This means he won’t feature in EA FC 24’s career mode or online play options, a fate that has befallen young stars of the past.
For example, PSG star Warren Zaire-Emery was unavailable at launch in FIFA 23, as he won’t turn 17 until March 2023. The same applied to Borussia Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko in FIFA 22.
However, this suggests that Yamal could be added once he turns 17, which is next Saturday.
This means players will be able to use the star player soon, although there is a chance they will have to wait until EA FC 25.
While Yamal won’t be appearing in the main version of EA FC 24, he will be available to use in the game’s Euro 2024 mode, which is a relief for fans.
This is all the more important because even if Yamal is added in a new update, he will not be available for use in Ultimate Team.
