REVEALED: Why there is NO 12.30pm kick-off in the Premier League for a second Saturday lunchtime running

This Saturday there will be no kick-off at 12.30 pm in the Premier League for the second week in a row.

Most weeks, Premier League fans can enjoy an early afternoon football feast on TNT Sports.

It’s a luxury that follows Football Focus on the BBC and is followed by every breathtaking update for Soccer Saturday’s 3pm matches on Sky Sports.

However, supporters will again be without football until 3 p.m.

Last weekend there was no match at 12.30 pm because Arsenal had played in Porto in the Champions League and therefore faced Newcastle on Saturday evening instead of in the afternoon.

The reason is that TNT Sports, which uses the 12.30 pm slot, has decided not to show any matches this weekend

This coming weekend we will be out of action for another reason.

But what exactly is that reason?

This weekend there will be no Saturday afternoon kick-off, because no matches have been chosen for broadcast. That is it.

TNT Sports holds the Saturday 12.30pm slot in the current broadcast deal with the Premier League.

Each season, TNT has the opportunity to show 52 live matches to the public, divided into lunchtime and midweek evening matches.

However, for the third weekend of this season, the broadcaster has chosen not to use one of their 52 matches, meaning we won’t see a single match at 12:30 p.m.

It means there will be a total of six kick-offs at 3pm, with Newcastle hosting Wolves, Tottenham hosting Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest playing Liverpool, Brentford facing Chelsea, Everton hosting West Ham and Fulham entertaining Brighton.

TNT Sports only has the rights to 52 matches per season, so you’ll have to be selective when choosing what to show

TNT Sports did not show any matches in the first weekend of the season, not even during Game Week 17.

But don’t panic, because they’ll be back from March 9 when Manchester United clash with Everton at Old Trafford.
