Revealed: Why Stephen Curry’s wife Ayesha clashed with Paris cops amid claims her four-month-old baby was ‘hit in the head’ moments after gold-medal game against France

Stephen Curry’s wife, Ayesha Curry, burst into tears after Paris police stopped her as she tried to leave the final of the men’s Olympic basketball tournament with her baby.

Ayesha and her mother-in-law Sonya had a tense argument with police on Saturday after Steph and Team USA won gold at the 2024 Games.

In a video posted online by Hollywood Fix, Ayesha can be seen holding her four-month-old son Caius Chai and wiping away tears as Sonya pleads with officers on the street to allow the family access to their vehicle.

Sonya screams that someone touched Caius, the couple’s fourth child who was born prematurely in May. Steph’s Golden State Warrior teammate, Draymond Green, also says someone hit the boy on the head.

A man, who appeared to be acting as an interpreter, then explained to the group that police had said “the president” was coming and that “no one is allowed to cross the street until he dies.”

French President Emmanuel Macron attended the match between the United States and host country France, so it is possible that he left the stadium at the time of the match.

Ayesha, 35, is visibly upset as she holds Caius in a baby carrier worn on her chest, with her six-year-old son Canon Jack, wrapped in an American flag, at her side.

“Look, they won’t let us go back to where we came from,” Sonya said in the video. “They won’t let the driver come here and they won’t let us go back there.”

At one point a man starts translating for the police and apologizes: “Sorry about the baby.”

Steph, 36, was not seen in the footage but his teammate was clearly present in the gold medallist’s absence.

“So even after he hits the baby in the head, you still can’t do anything to get them out of here?” Green asked, trying to intervene.

At one point, an angry Sonya can be heard shouting at others off-camera, “What? Stop saying my name. You guys should be helping us with the baby!”

Later, Sonya, in tears, tells the officers, “Let’s go to our car.”

Although Ayesha was clearly crying, she remained silent during the confrontation. The couple has not publicly commented on the incident.

Steph and Ayesha announced the birth of Caius at the end of May.

“Our sweet baby boy decided to come early!!,” the four-time NBA champion wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of the newborn’s hand. “He is doing great and we are finally settling in as a family of 6! So thankful!”

It’s unclear when Caius’ original due date was, but the couple’s first three children were all born in July, the height of the NBA offseason.

Eldest daughter Riley Elizabeth was born in July 2012, daughter Ryan three years later, followed by their first son, Canon, in 2018.

Stephen Curry, the son of former NBA guard Dell and brother of Charlotte Hornets backup Seth, is entering his 16th season and is already the most prolific 3-point shooter in league history.

In addition to his four NBA titles, he has also won an NBA Finals MVP award, 10 All-Star honors and two Most Valuable Player awards.

Steph met Ayesha as a teenager at church in his hometown of Charlotte, where his father was playing at the time. The two eventually married in July 2011.

Dell and his wife Sonya have since divorced.
