Revealed: What Tyson Fury’s corner said to him before last round of Oleksandr Usyk loss… did the Gypsy King REALLY believe he’d won?
- Tyson Fury was defeated in his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday evening
- Fury insisted shortly afterwards that he felt he had won the fight ‘by three rounds’
- It has now been revealed exactly what Fury’s corner told him before the final round
It has been revealed exactly what Tyson Fury’s corner said just before the final round of his fight against Oleksandr Usyk.
In a thrilling match where neither man refused to give an inch, it was Usyk who, just like seven months ago, finished strongest and claimed another victory.
Usyk became the undisputed champion by just one point in May when he earned a split-decision victory, but this time it was clearer as all three judges scored the fight 116-112 in his favor.
Fury promptly left the ring after the result was announced, quickly claiming he felt he had won the fight by at least ‘three rounds’ before learning of his defeat.
However, it has now been revealed what the Gypsy King was told by his team heading into the final round and it shows that perhaps he should have shown more ambition.
According to The sunFury’s head coach SugarHill Steward said: ‘You have to get it now. There’s no tomorrow, you hear me? It is now.

“The fight is too close, you have to fuck this mother. You have to keep your legs moving.
“Put your damn hands up and give it everything you’ve got, Tyson, you hear that? You have to take it, don’t be stupid, but you have to take it’.
In the end, Fury didn’t accept it and suffered his second defeat against the Ukrainian.
The 36-year-old was later caught backstage by reporters and when asked about his thoughts on the scorecards, the Gypsy King gave a surprising answer.
Speak with Sky Sports Boxing after the fight he said, “I swear to God, I thought I won by three rounds!”
Later, ESPN reported that Fury also said: ‘I thought I won the fight again, I was Larry Holmesed again. I was on the front foot the whole time. If you don’t get the knockout, this could happen.”
Usyk appeared stunned when asked if he deserved to have his hand raised before facing heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois, who called for a rematch after losing to the Ukrainian great last year.
The punch stats showed that Fury had thrown more punches in the match, with 509 to Usyk’s 423. But Usyk landed 179 over the 12 rounds, compared to 144 by Fury.
Overall, Usyk landed 42 percent of his punches, while Fury lagged far behind at 28 percent.

Fury insisted he felt he won the fight by ‘three rounds’ despite the unanimous decision
At the press conference, Fury was bluntly asked what’s next for him after falling short in undisputed and then unified title fights, marking the first losses of his entire professional career.
“Maybe you’ll see me fight again, maybe not,” he replied cryptically.
But most of the boxing world suspects that we will indeed see him fight again, and ultimately against Anthony Joshua.
The domestic controversy has been discussed for almost a decade, since Fury first became champion when he dethroned Wladimir Klitschko in November 2015.
