Revealed: The US state with the highest number of OnlyFans creators

Everyone from Beyoncé to Cardi B to Bella Thorne has been talking about the adult content site OnlyFans.

The latter two actually set up their own pages on the platform to earn some extra income.

The site, where creators invite users to subscribe to pages with their sexually explicit content, has exploded in recent years.

The number of OnlyFans creators worldwide has increased tenfold from 2019 to 2022 – from just 348,000 creators to 3,182,000.

Much of the content is homegrown: 67 percent of the $1.9 billion net revenue generated on the platform in 2022 came from U.S. content creators, Variation reported.

Sometimes the content is merely suggestive, other times it is completely pornographic. But it’s surprisingly lucrative, considering some creators, like former teacher Allie Dawson, rake in around $50,000 a month through her OnlyFans account.

Now, a new study has revealed the parts of America where the largest number of OnlyFans creators are supplementing their income using the platform.

The BedBible survey used Only Search to determine the number of creators per state.

At number one was Connecticut, and Stacey Diane Arañez Litam, an assistant professor at Cleveland State University and Forbes Health Advisor, told DailyMail.com it was “really surprising” to see. WHY

It was closely followed by Nevada, Hawaii and North Dakota.

This difference between states could reflect different needs for supplemental income based on location, said Professor Litam, who has previously studied the demographics of OnlyFans users.

For example, the relative income in each state could be less than the cost of living.

“A lot of people are struggling financially now than in years past, so I think people are getting creative about supplementing their income,” she said.

The state-wise survey was conducted by Bed Bible, a sex toy and sexual wellness company, which uses a search engine called OnlySearch, which allows you to search for OnlyFans creators using keywords.

Using this search tool, BedBible broke down the number of creators per 100,000 residents in each state.

Connecticut had the highest amount, with 24.64 accounts.

On the other end of the spectrum, there were only 49 creators who listed themselves in New York.

The survey also reported the average monthly income of OF makers in each state. South Carolina had the highest average, with users earning about $1,460 monthly from their profiles. Other states, such as West Virginia, only bring in about $40 per month.

This may seem shockingly low if you’ve heard of success stories like Ms. Dawson, who lives in Florida. But others in her state bring in an average of $340, according to the BedBible survey.

A major limitation of this method is that it only catches people who publicly report their location, Elissa Redmiles, an assistant professor of computer science at Georgetown University, told DailyMail.com.

Professor Redmiles has previously conducted interviews and investigations into the OnlyFans creator’s motivations for joining the platform.

She said creators often don’t list their locations due to security concerns.

Other times, creators might say they live in a certain state that they don’t actually reside in, to create a fantasy personality that they feel best suits their audience’s desires, Professor Redmiles said.

Taken together, this means that “it is likely that all of these figures are underreported,” Professor Litam said.
