Revealed: The two players Man United are looking to sell to raise funds for Manuel Ugarte signing after agreeing personal terms with the PSG star

  • Manchester United are keen to strike a deal to sign PSG’s Manuel Ugarte
  • United and Uruguayan midfielder Ugarte have already agreed on personal terms
  • But United still need to sell a midfielder to make room for the 23-year-old

Manchester United reached an agreement with Manuel Ugarte on personal terms this week, but his potential transfer from Paris Saint-Germain has not yet been completed.

Mail Sport has learned that there is currently no agreement between the two clubs and that PSG will not sell the player for less than £59m.

United should be able to afford that asking price, but first they need to make room in the squad – and in the budget – by selling an extra midfielder.

Two players have been identified as potential candidates who could be sold to facilitate Ugarte’s arrival.

It concerns the 32-year-old Brazilian Casemiro and the 27-year-old Scottish star player Scott McTominay.

Defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka could also be sold if a good offer comes in.

Casemiro has attracted interest from teams in the Saudi Pro League, with United’s bosses keen to explore the possibility of the Brazilian’s £375,000-a-week wage bill being scrapped from the club.

Meanwhile, United have already rejected a bid from Fulham for McTominay.

Fulham’s opening bid was reportedly worth less than the £30m offered by West Ham last summer.

Tottenham have also been linked with McTominay, who has been a United player since joining the club’s academy more than 20 years ago.

Given that United have not signed McTominay for a transfer fee, his sale would significantly strengthen the club’s position in relation to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability (PSR) rules.

The 23-year-old Ugarte only joined PSG in June last year, after two seasons in Lisbon with Sporting.
