From hot weather to exhausting days at work, the summer months can wreak havoc on your skin.
And it’s easy to get swept up in an expensive skincare routine, with expensive products and scheduled facials on your schedule.
But now experts have revealed that the humble ice cube could be the key to transforming your skincare routine.
Ice has been a necessary step for some makeup artists in the past to help relieve any puffiness or redness on the skin.
The cold can help constrict blood vessels, making pores appear smaller and puffiness down the eyes and cheeks — which is a big reason why some experts recommend putting eye masks in the freezer before use.
All you need is ice: rolling an ice cube under your eyes can reduce puffiness and puffiness, giving you a radiant complexion (stock image)
The ice cube trick can also be used after applying facial serum, as the cold helps to constrict the capillaries so that the ingredients penetrate deeper into the skin.
And now experts at The Ice Co have revealed that there are some quick and easy DIY beauty hacks that can be performed using the humble ice cube.
1. Try an ice facial
Tried and tested by many celebrities including Amanza Smith and Bella Hadid, this is the easiest and most efficient way to get a facial.
You can help soothe skin and reduce fatigue by stimulating blood flow to the face for a brighter complexion by filling a bowl with ice water, dipping your face in it and holding it for a few seconds after cleansing.
Repeat a few times – and don’t forget to moisturize afterwards.
2. Roll an ice cube over your face
If you don’t have time for a completely ice-cold facial, take an ice cube and roll it over your face after cleansing.
This can help reduce swelling and shrink pores, as well as reduce redness for a smoother, more even skin tone.
3. Roll an ice cube under your eyes to reduce puffiness and puffiness
Before your makeup works its magic on your skin, rolling an ice cube under your eyes can make you feel refreshed on your big day.
It can also help reduce dark circles and puffiness caused by sleepless nights while planning a wedding.
4. Ice water dries and seals nail polish
Did you quickly paint your nails and do they need to dry quickly? Ice water dries and seals nail polish in no time.
Fill a bowl with cold water, add ice and dip your fingers in it for 30 seconds. Your nail polish should be dry and sealed.
In 2017, a Korean beauty trend called ‘Jasmu’ went viral and added a bucket of ice after applying foundation.
Beauty bloggers, and even Bella Hadid, raved about dipping your face in the ice bucket after applying foundation, saying it helped seal in the makeup before applying the rest of the products.
To integrate the technique into your own beauty routine, first apply a primer, foundation and concealer to the face.
Then cover the entire face with baby powder or translucent powder to help seal the liquid makeup.
Once the base has been applied, dip your face in a bowl of ice water for 30 seconds.
