Revealed: The sexiest accents in Britain, according to singletons – so does your accent make the list?
From the accessible Geordie twang to the instantly recognizable Edinburgh tune, Britain is home to some of the most distinctive accents in the world.
Now a report has revealed exactly which accents are most popular among single people.
Tinder has released its annual Year in Swipe report, detailing everything from the most common names to the most popular emoji on the app this year.
When it comes to sexy accents, fans of celebrities like Cillian Murphy, Vogue Williams and Joanne McNally won’t be surprised to hear that the Irish accent reigns supreme.
This is closely followed by the Scottish accent, as seen in stars such as James McAvoy, Gerard Butler and Karen Gillan.
However, it’s bad news for celebrities like Jack Grealish, Cat Deeley and Ozzy Osbourne.
According to Tinder analysis, the Birmingham accent is the least sexy among singles.

For the report, Tinder analyzed Tinder Bios, Descriptors and Interests data among its UK users from January 1 to October 1, 2024.
It showed that the Irish accent is the most popular, followed by Scottish, Essex, Yorkshire and Welsh.
At the other end of the scale, the Brummie accent is the least popular, followed by Cornish, Geordie, Scouse and Sheffield.
As well as accents, the report also revealed the top dating activities in Britain.
Somewhat surprisingly, single people said their perfect first date was a rave.
However, those who prefer more low-key dates will be happy to hear that a pub quiz, bowling, coffee date or dinner date were the next most popular choices.
In terms of interests, British Tinder users were most impressed with art, rave and music, as well as the gym and cooking.
Meanwhile, the most important love styles appeared to be time together, touch, thoughtful gestures, compliments and gifts.

In the report, Tinder also reveals the fastest growing emoji on its platform.
The top emoji turned out to be the pink bow, which Tinder interprets as “this is me… if you even care.”
“Young singles have tapped into the playful charm with a touch of mystery of coquette… if you even care!” Tinder explained.
The white cloud – said to represent ‘the highs and lows’ – was next on the list.
“The black cloud emoji appeared in biographies and reflects a realistic view of dating,” Tinder explains.
“This year, people aren’t afraid to acknowledge the highs and the occasional low, because let’s face it: dating isn’t always sunny!”
The backpack was next on the list as it proved to be popular among adventurous singles.
This was followed by the yellow waving hand.
“Hand open and honest: this emoji became popular among people looking for openness and transparency,” Tinder said.
There’s a ‘no games’ vibe to these profiles, fostering a real connection from the start.”
Finally, the owl emoji rounds out the top five.
“Late night chats and thoughtful insights gave the owl emoji a prime spot,” Tinder added.
‘This symbol became a calling card for night owls and for those who value wisdom and deep conversations.’
