Jose Mourinho will have a squad full of Premier League experience once his impending appointment as Fenerbahce’s new manager is announced.

The Portuguese boss, who has been out of work since being sacked by Roma in January, had confirmed on Saturday that he would fly to Turkey today to seal a deal with the Super Lig side.

Fenerbahce has been posting updates throughout the day, including a photo of his arrival in Istanbul, and the deal is expected to be officially announced this evening.

The 61-year-old has now landed in Turkey and the official announcement is expected to be made in the coming hours.

Mourinho’s arrival comes after Fener brutally finished second in the league despite amassing a whopping 99 points, three points behind their bitter rivals Galatasaray.

He will be tasked with bringing glory back to Istanbul, and will already be familiar with a number of players at the club from their time in the Premier League.

Former Manchester United midfielder is one of the players Mourinho will know well after signing the Brazilian during his reign at Old Trafford.

The 31-year-old was a regular starter for Fener, contributing with three goals and eight assists in 35 games in all competitions.

Former Manchester City striker Eden Dzeko, 38, remains productive despite his age. He has scored 25 goals and assisted 10 in 46 appearances since moving to Turkey last summer.

The Bosnian shared the minutes with Chelsea cult hero Michy Batshuayi, who has been at the club for the past two years.

Mourinho will also be able to call on the experiences of Turkish duo Caglar Soyuncu and Cengiz Under, who both played for Leicester in recent seasons.

Meanwhile, Joshua King has made more than 200 appearances in the top flight, having played for Bournemouth, Everton and Watford, and will be at Mourinho’s disposal.

Experienced Dusan Tadic, 35, could be the creative outlet Mourinho can call on after scoring 14 goals this season, the third most in the division.

The Serbian international spent four years at Southampton and made 134 appearances in the league before joining Ajax in 2018.
