Shocking new accounts have emerged of the way ‘Duchess Difficult’ Meghan Markle treats her staff as her husband Prince Harry prepares to celebrate his 40th birthday tomorrow.

According to a new, brutal report from the American magazine Hollywood Reporter, Meghan has been given a new nickname by her American staff after she was accused of “belittling” people and “walking around like a dictator in high heels, raging and shouting orders.”

The publication also reported allegations that Meghan is “absolutely ruthless” toward her employees, with a source telling the Hollywood Reporter: “I’ve seen her reduce grown men to tears.”

Meghan and her husband were also branded “poor decision-makers” who “change their minds often”, while Harry was described in the damning new reports as “a very, very charming person” and yet “a real ally”.

Claims of the duchess’s unpopularity among staff arose amid speculation fuelled by the couple’s staffing fluctuations, after it was reported last month that the Sussexes’ chief of staff Josh Kettler had left after a brief three-month stint.

Royal expert Hugo Vickers told The Sun: ‘I know people in Windsor who told me how hard it was for them when they lived in Adelaide Cottage.’

‘There was a time when she was extremely rude to one of the under-gardeners. The head gardener complained to the Queen about it. She rode to Adelaide Cottage and made her angry.

“There is a lot of evidence that they can’t retain staff and that’s a very bad sign because some people inspire enormous loyalty, like the late Prince Philip,” Vickers said.

Meghan was previously accused of bullying palace staff before the couple moved to California, prompting royal officials to launch an investigation into claims of Meghan’s “derogatory” behavior toward two personal assistants.

Staff were said to be in tears and feeling “traumatised”, with some comparing their condition to post-traumatic stress disorder.

Although no details of the report have ever been released, the duchess has vehemently denied the allegations, with her lawyers calling them a “calculated smear campaign” at the time.

The couple is known for losing employees, having reportedly lost at least 18 workers since their marriage in 2018.

Since the couple left Britain for California in 2020, at least nine people have quit their jobs, including their international press officer Toya Holness and Meghan’s chief adviser and private secretary Samantha Cohen.

The claims come as the couple prepare to celebrate the Duke of Sussex’s 40th birthday on Sunday. Other sources have suggested that the Duke is feeling increasingly lonely in the US and considers his security guard David Langdown his best friend.

On Friday evening, Harry said in a statement how happy he was to celebrate his 40th birthday: “Let the new decade begin.”

The Duke will celebrate the milestone privately on Sunday with Meghan and their children Archie, five, and three-year-old Lilibet.

According to Sky News, he is planning a weekend away with his best friends.

In his post, he paid tribute to his two “incredibly sweet and funny” children, adding that they had “sharpened his focus in all my work.”

Harry told the BBC: ‘Regardless of age, my mission is to continue to show and do good in the world. On to the next decade.’
