MailOnline can reveal that Paul Young’s four children did not want to attend his recent wedding as they are still grieving over the death of their mother.
The 67-year-old Eighties singer married his fiancée Lorna Young, 56, at a London registry office last Friday, six years after his wife Stacey lost her battle with cancer.
His daughters Levi, 36, Layla, 29, and sons Grady, 27, and Jude, 12, were conspicuously absent, with fans wondering why they weren’t involved.
But a friend told MailOnline that Paul’s children would find it ‘too painful’ to see him remarry and that they are still ‘grief-stricken’ over their loss.
The friend said, “The children are still deeply saddened by their mother.
‘They found it too painful to see him remarry, so they stayed away.
‘It would have been too much to attend such a big event, where all eyes would be on them, while they are still in mourning.
‘Paul and Lorna both understood the decision.’

Stacey, who appeared in the 1983 music video for Paul’s second single Come Back And Stay, died in January 2018 at the age of 52 after a two-year battle with brain cancer

MailOnline has contacted Paul’s representatives for comment.
According to another family source, Paul’s children celebrated the nuptials with the newlyweds at their home later that evening, as well as with other family members of the singer from his hometown of Luton in a more private setting.
However, this is yet to be confirmed and his children, namely his two daughters who are active on Instagram, have not celebrated it on social media. They also do not follow Lorna.
Paul’s eldest daughter Levi is a tech entrepreneur who previously appeared in the BBC1 series Dragons Den and her younger sister Layla is a model and has been married to Chris Jacobs since May this year.
On the day of the wedding, Layla posted a photo to her Instagram Stories showing her doing a fashion shoot.
Paul also has a son Grady and a stepson Jude.
His late wife Stacey had Jude during a brief relationship with Israeli businessman Ilan Slazenger after she split from Paul in 2006.
Paul married Stacey in 1987. They were together for almost 20 years before briefly splitting in 2016 when Stacey had Jude with Slazenger.
Paul confirmed on ITV’s Loose Women that Jude was conceived when he and Stacey were taking a break from their marriage, and played down rumours she was having an affair.
When they got back together, the Love of the Common People hitmaker became his stepfather. He claims Jude’s biological father is “50 percent convinced” and that they are just like any other “blended family.”

Stacey was diagnosed when she and Paul had been married for 30 years; the same year the musician turned 60 (pictured: Paul and Stacey in 2013)
Stacey, who featured in the 1983 music video for Paul’s second single Come Back And Stay, died in January 2018 at the age of 52 after a two-year battle with brain cancer.
She was diagnosed when she had been married to Paul for 30 years, the year the musician turned 60.
Two years later she tragically passed away. Paul took to Twitter to announce: ‘Sadly Stacey passed away today after a two year battle with brain cancer.
‘She passed away peacefully in our home, surrounded by family, friends and her four children Levi, Layla, Grady and Jude.’
Speaking about her death on This Morning in 2018, Paul said: ‘We just made the best of it in those two years. And as a family we agreed that we would [he and his children] wanted to get started and do something positive.
‘That’s what she was most proud of. She was really happy for me when things got better again. [We are a close family] We see each other all the time.
‘When she first got sick, we all said we were going to stop eating sugar because it makes cancer worse. We did it mainly as a show of solidarity with Stacey.’
Paul was introduced to his new wife Lorna, who is from Roscommon in Ireland, by a mutual friend and they moved in together in December 2021. Two years later, he proposed.
Lorna runs Paul’s company and is a familiar face to his loyal fans who attend his gigs. In her youth she was a wannabe musician herself.
Paul and Stacey married in a romantic ceremony in 1987 and had three children together: Levi, 36, Layla, 29, and son Grady Cole, 27 (pictured in 1989)
The couple looked overjoyed to become husband and wife during their ceremony in London
His wife is also a widower. In 2018, she lost her husband of 27 years to suicide. She cared for him for ten years before he committed suicide.
They have a son, Aaron, 25, who made an emotional speech at Paul and Lorna’s wedding, just hours after walking her down the aisle.
In a video Lorna posted on Instagram, he says: ‘Paul, when you met my mother, it was a time in your lives when you were both dealing with loss. I think what makes this marriage so special is that it has proven to the world that love really does heal.
“I’ve never seen my mother so happy and always so happy. And it takes a special kind of person to make something like that happen.”
Paul looked handsome at the wedding in a navy suit, while Lorna sparkled in an elegant white lace dress with pearl detailing.
He then posted a tribute to his new wife on his Instagram account, writing: ‘Meet the new Mrs Young! Today I married the most amazing girl.. thank you Lorna, this is one of the happiest days of my life.’
Ny Breaking revealed last week that the couple’s decision to marry came as no surprise to their friends.
One of them told MailOnline: ‘Paul and Lorna have a strong bond.
‘They were united by grief and came into each other’s lives at the perfect time.
“It was beautiful to see them celebrate their love together by getting married. You could just tell they were both in love.”
