The reason why Marcus Rashford was dropped by Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has been revealed.

Rashford has found himself on the fringes at United in recent weeks, which has led to uncertainty over his future at the club.

Amorim became frustrated when Rashford broke his pre-match rule before United’s win against Everton on December 1.

United’s head coach subsequently dropped Rashford from the starting line-up against Arsenal.

Rashford scored against Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League but was subsequently left out of four consecutive matchday squads before being an unused substitute against Newcastle.

After being left out by Amorim, Rashford stated that he would be open to a new challenge away from United.

As reported by The AthleticsAmorim was unhappy to hear that Rashford was out in Manchester on the night of Friday, November 29.

United faced Everton on 1 December and although Rashford scored twice in a 4–0 win, Amorim was told after the match that the forward had been taken off ahead of the match.

People close to Rashford have vehemently denied this is the case.

Rashford suggested he could try to leave United after being left out.

Speaking to journalist Henry Winter, Rashford said: ‘For me personally, I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps.

‘If I leave, it will be ‘no hard feelings’. You won’t get any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That’s me as a person.

‘If I know a situation is already bad, I’m not going to make it worse.

“I’ve seen other players leave in the past and I don’t want to be that person. When I leave, I will make a statement, and it will be mine.”

These comments prompted Amorim to question the player’s entourage.

“It’s a difficult situation,” Amorim said. ‘I understand that these players have a lot of people around them and sometimes make choices that are not the player’s first idea. I understand, I can separate things.

United are back in action on Sunday when they take on Premier League leaders Liverpool. It remains to be seen whether Rashford will feature in that match.

Academy player Rashford, who earns £325,000-a-week, has spent his entire senior career so far at United and has made 426 appearances while scoring 138 goals and providing 63 assists.
