REVEALED: The Premier League team that Kylian Mbappe would always watch… but former PSG team-mate Lionel Messi wasn’t so keen!

With almost every top club in Europe on red alert for the Frenchman, one of his old team-mates has revealed Kylian Mbappe would watch ‘every game’ for one Premier League side with an old team-mate.

Mbappe’s future has been the talk of the transfer market after it was announced he would be leaving Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season, with a number of Premier League destinations being touted.

The 25-year-old is once again in commanding form for PSG, reaffirming his status as arguably the best player in the world.

In 31 appearances across all competitions, he has scored 32 goals and seven assists, with his club flying at the top of Ligue 1, as they have been doing with regularity for some time, despite the uncertainty surrounding the future of their talisman.

However, it has emerged that the France captain was a fairly regular follower of one team in particular during his time with the Ligue 1 titans, tuning in on a surprisingly regular basis – although Lionel Messi wasn’t so convinced.

However, according to the teammate, Lionel Messi was not such a fan of the team

“It has been difficult this past year, we will continue to support, we believed,” said Everton star Idrissa Gueye, who rejoined Everton in 2022.

“I remember every time we lost, Draxler said, ‘You see your team, they’re no good!’ and I would say “We will survive”, so the day we survived against Crystal Palace he said “you were lucky” and I said “I told you so”. I told him to come to Everton, but he didn’t listen!’

‘Mbappe, yes, he would watch. He loved watching every game. (Leo) Messi, no. It was hard for me because we were losing a lot and he said, “Bro, come on, you see your team is losing and playing like that?” but it was funny.’

With the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool already linked with the player’s services, it may be surprising to hear that Mbappe was such an avid follower of a team lower down the table.

The Toffees are battling relegation again this season, despite the impressive work of Sean Dyche, who has significantly improved their play, even though they have not achieved a win since December due to Gueye himself being out injured.

But a 10-point deduction for breaking profit and sustainability rules puts them in 17th place with 20 points; without the penalty they could be in 12th place above Fulham on 30.

Gueye also revealed he was in constant communication with his then teammates at Goodison Park as they battled the 2022 setback.

The Senegalese midfielder initially left the club for the French capital in 2019, before returning three years later in 2022, and has remained there ever since.

‘I messaged Seamus Coleman, Mason Holgate and Jordan Pickford saying “Bro, please do it!”. It was important for me to support him and show that I was there for him.’

He added: ‘They called me because they needed me and I said, ‘I’ll come and help.’

‘It would be easy if they were at the top or even middle of the table, but if you love the club you have to come at the bad moments.

“Lampard called me, Seamus messaged me, Jordan too and I was part of this team even though I was in Paris. They asked me to come and help and I said “let’s go!”.

‘At first I thought: “Why are you calling, I want to stay here!” but they said: ‘Yes, but we need you’ and the only club I could leave PSG for for the time being was Everton, so we did the deal.’
