According to a leading pollster, there is only one Democrat who can beat Trump. Not only has that person never held office, he also did not campaign for Joe Biden this election season.
As other former Democrats and liberal pundits speculate about Biden’s ability to hold on to the presidency until 2028 if he wins, two elected members of the party’s congressional delegation called on him to withdraw on Tuesday.
Democratic Rep. Jared Golden of Maine, 41, now expects Trump to win after Biden’s terrible debate performance, while Lloyd Doggett of Texas, 77, says he’d be “okay” if Donald Trump wins in November.
The fallout from the debate debacle just five days ago has the party fretting about its near and distant futures, a future in which Biden is unlikely to play a role.
Polling firm Ipsos has now directly compared a number of elected and unelected Democrats to Biden and according to their research, only one would beat him.

Michelle Obama, the former First Lady of the United States, currently holds a massive 50-39 lead in the polls over former President Trump.
Obama, 60, has never sought or held elected office, but is often seen as a dream candidate because of her immense popularity.
The poll was released the same week that First Lady Obama was seen staying away from the campaign because of her friendship with Hunter Biden’s ex-wife, Kathleen Buhle.
The former first lady, one of the most popular figures in the Democratic Party, has posted nothing about the 81-year-old president’s re-election campaign.
Buhle and Hunter split in 2017, and details of the divorce resurfaced when she testified at his recent federal gun trial in Delaware.
Axios reported that Michelle had told others that her friend had been wronged by the Biden family, who blamed Buhle for making some of the shocking details of Hunter’s behavior public.
However, the poll only contains negative results for the remaining Democratic Party leaders.
Only Vice President Kamala Harris (who lost 43-42) comes within one point of Trump, according to Ipsos.

Other Democrats currently in power are doing even worse: Governors Gavin Newsom of California (losing 42-39), Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan (losing 41-36), Andy Beshear of Kentucky (losing 40-36) and JB Pritzker of Illinois (40-34) are all doing worse than Trump.
The poll actually shows positive news for Biden, compared to his recent polls, which put him tied with Trump, both at 40 percent.
Michelle Obama has yet to give the impression that she would run for any particular office.
After reports surfaced of the feud between Obama and Biden, White House spokesman Andrew Bates denied that there was a rift between First Lady Obama and the Biden families.
He said, “The Biden and Obama families are like family to each other, and whoever made these claims about that relationship is not familiar with it.
“The former president and the first lady have been two of the strongest supporters of President Biden’s leadership and agenda.”
Buhle accused Hunter of squandering his family’s money on drugs and prostitutes and of cheating on him while becoming addicted to crack cocaine himself.
The poll was released the same week as reports that First Lady Obama had stepped away from the campaign because of her friendship with Hunter Biden’s ex-wife, Kathleen Buhle.

She and Michelle became friends during the Obama administration, but the dynamic between the Obama and Biden families has changed since then, the report said.
During Obama’s presidency, the two women worked out together at the gym and often had cocktails at the White House.
There is still a close bond between them, which has reportedly caused tension between Michelle and the Bidens.
According to the report, former President Obama described the Biden family as “weird stuff” after a fundraiser for the Beau Biden Foundation in 2017.
Michelle was initially hesitant to campaign for Joe in 2020, but was eventually persuaded to do so when Democrats told her the consequences would be too great if she failed.
Now her husband goes out on his own, appearing with Joe at various flashy fundraising events.
Both a White House spokesman and an Obama spokesman denied reports of a rift.
Crystal Carson, a spokesperson for Michelle Obama, said she is friends with both Kathleen and the Bidens.

Biden continues to insist he will not withdraw from the campaign.
