As many as 82 of the Premier League’s biggest stars will see their current deals expire this summer and for these free agents, today truly marks a new dawn as they can now talk to foreign parties about a potential move.

It’s all thanks to the infamous Bosman ruling, which was passed by the European Court of Justice in 1995 and allowed players within the EU to move to another team for free at the end of their contracts.

While these stars will have to wait until June to negotiate with domestic teams, January offers the chance to talk to clubs abroad and sort out their future in advance.
